At a glance

Sets out how to write React components in LobeHub: which styling approach to use, which component libraries to prefer and in what order.

  • Works in 5 steps: src/components — project-specific… → @lobehub/ui/base-ui — headless… → @lobehub/ui — higher-level /… → …
  • Writing or restyling a TSX component in the LobeHub codebase
  • SKILL.md covers Styling, Component Priority, State and Render Performance and…, plus 2 more sections
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md

What it does

Styling follows a table of scenarios. Most components use createStaticStyles with cssVar values, which are zero-runtime and defined at module level; simple one-offs use an inline style attribute; and createStyles with a token is a last resort, kept for truly dynamic cases such as JavaScript color functions.

Component choice follows a priority list: the project's own reusable components first, then the headless primitives in @lobehub/ui/base-ui, then higher-level @lobehub/ui components that wrap antd, then antd itself, and a custom build only as a last resort. When a component exists in base-ui it is used, and the same-named root export is not imported. A table lists base-ui imports for Alert, Select, the imperative Modal API, DropdownMenu and ContextMenu, among others.

The scope also covers state locality, layout, render performance and memoization, and a layout-kit reference note is included. If you are unsure which components exist, the agent searches the codebase or checks the installed library's index and base-ui folders.

When your agent uses it

  • Writing or restyling a TSX component in the LobeHub codebase
  • Picking between a base-ui primitive, a @lobehub/ui component and antd
  • Reducing unnecessary re-renders with better state placement or memoization

Example prompts

  • “Build a settings panel component using the base-ui Select and createStaticStyles.”
  • “Replace the antd dropdown in the toolbar with the base-ui DropdownMenu.”
  • “Restyle the sidebar item to use cssVar values instead of a runtime styles hook.”

Requirements

  • A checkout of the LobeHub repository

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. src/components — project-specific reusable components
  2. @lobehub/ui/base-ui — headless primitives. If the component lives here, use it. Do NOT import the same-named root export.
  3. @lobehub/ui — higher-level / antd-wrapping components (only when no base-ui equivalent)
  4. antd — only when neither base-ui nor @lobehub/ui root provides it
  5. Custom implementation — true last resort

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 1863542. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

LobeHub React Component Guide loads about 1.7k tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.3k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 28 tokens; SKILL.md has 558 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~28
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.7k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~2.3k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 558 words (~1,708 tokens).

“If unsure about available components, search existing code or check node_modules/@lobehub/ui/es/index.mjs and node_modules/@lobehub/ui/es/base-ui/.”
