chat-sdkBuilds chat bots once for Slack, Teams, Google Chat, Discord, GitHub and Linear with the Chat SDK, covering event handlers, cards, modals, streaming and state adapters.
The skill is for building multi-platform bots with a unified TypeScript Chat SDK. It tells the agent to read the documentation and type definitions bundled in node_modules/chat before writing code, and lists which doc covers setup, usage, streaming with the AI SDK, JSX cards, actions, modals (Slack only), adapters and state adapters. Core concepts are the Chat entry point, platform adapters, pluggable state (Redis for production, memory for development), threads, normalized messages and channels.
An event handler table maps triggers to functions: onNewMention for the bot being mentioned in an unsubscribed thread, onSubscribedMessage for any message in a subscribed thread, onNewMessage with a regex, onSlashCommand, onReaction, and onAction for button clicks and dropdown selections. A quick start creates a Chat instance with a Slack adapter and Redis state.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 6aaeeee. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are typescript).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
SLACK_BOT_TOKENSLACK_SIGNING_SECRETFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Chat SDK Bots loads about 1.5k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 31 tokens; SKILL.md has 344 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 344 words (~1,534 tokens).

It tells the agent to read the documentation and type definitions bundled in node_modules/chat before writing code, and lists which doc covers setup, usage, streaming with the AI SDK, JSX cards, actions, modals (Slack only), adapters and state adapters.
Chat SDK Bots fits situations like: writing a bot that should work on several chat platforms; handling mentions, slash commands and reactions in a bot; adding interactive cards, buttons or modals to a bot; streaming model output into a chat thread.
Run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill chat-sdk -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/chat-sdk in lobehub/lobehub) into .claude/skills/chat-sdk in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill chat-sdk -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/chat-sdk in lobehub/lobehub) into .agents/skills/chat-sdk in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill chat-sdk -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/chat-sdk, .gemini/skills/chat-sdk, .github/skills/chat-sdk and .opencode/skills/chat-sdk in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Chat SDK Bots needs credentials named SLACK_BOT_TOKEN and SLACK_SIGNING_SECRET. Our summary lists: The chat npm package and a platform adapter such as @chat-adapter/slack; A Redis instance if you want persistent state in production.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Chat SDK Bots has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.5k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 6.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
