latex-formattingSets up conference-specific LaTeX paper templates, checks a draft for formatting and submission issues, and auto-fixes common problems for venues like ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, AAAI and ACL.
The skill runs one of three actions on a paper: setup creates the project directory and a main.tex from a venue-specific template read from a reference file covering venue specs, packages and commands; check runs a Python script against a given venue that validates word count, required sections, leftover TODO markers, anonymization, mismatched environments and basic content statistics; fix runs that same check and then applies a cleanup script that replaces special or non-UTF8 characters with their LaTeX equivalents while skipping math environments, writing the result to a separate fixed file rather than overwriting the original.
It also covers general LaTeX problems such as unescaped special characters, math-mode errors, float placement and overfull or underfull boxes, and cross-reference issues. The skill names sibling skills it expects nearby: paper-writing-section and table-generation feed into it, citation-management validates references separately, and paper-compilation is the downstream step that builds the final PDF.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 9e6c085. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

Academic LaTeX Formatter loads about 603 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 82 tokens; SKILL.md has 148 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 148 words (~603 tokens).

Academic LaTeX Formatter fits situations like: setting up a new paper from a conference's LaTeX template; checking a paper draft for submission issues before a deadline; fixing special-character or formatting problems in a LaTeX file.
Run `npx skills add lingzhi227/agent-research-skills --skill latex-formatting -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/latex-formatting in lingzhi227/agent-research-skills) into .claude/skills/latex-formatting in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add lingzhi227/agent-research-skills --skill latex-formatting -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/latex-formatting in lingzhi227/agent-research-skills) into .agents/skills/latex-formatting in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add lingzhi227/agent-research-skills --skill latex-formatting -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/latex-formatting, .gemini/skills/latex-formatting, .github/skills/latex-formatting and .opencode/skills/latex-formatting in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Academic LaTeX Formatter needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (python). Our summary lists: Python; A LaTeX distribution.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
No licence was found for Academic LaTeX Formatter or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 603 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 579 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
