What it does

Hate is an agent skill from LilMGenius/paperthin. Attack a plan, design, or argument like you want it to fail before you commit real effort — return the single load-bearing objection and the cheapest experiment that would prove it matters, not a checklist. User-invoked on purpose: a hate-it reflex always in the agent's reach would bias it toward demolition. Weighs many failure axes but owns the synthesis to one root.

Its SKILL.md is about 600 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Frontend & Design, covering Accessibility. The repository describes itself as: Low-level agentic design patterns. Turning old engineering wisdom into reflexes your agent reaches for on its own—on any agent. The licence is MIT.

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Pin the load-bearing assumption(s) — what must hold for the whole thing to stand.
  2. Attack on whatever axes apply — the general ones first: a load-bearing fact that may be false, confabulation (a post-hoc story treated as…
  3. Collapse the findings to the single root objection — the one whose failure makes the others moot.
  4. Find the first nail — the cheapest falsification of the load-bearing assumption: the check (in time / cost / sample) that could kill it…
  5. Return { root, first_nail } — not a list.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 7d5dc62. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Hate loads about 604 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 94 tokens; SKILL.md has 291 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~94
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~604

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Refuse to be nice to the plan — return the one objection that could kill it and the cheapest shot that proves it matters.

Goal

hate asks "what would someone who wants this to fail attack first?" (validity). It attacks the whole plan — not one fact or one line, but the load-bearing structure — and collapses the attack to a single root. The highest-value output is never a checklist — it's one objection plus the cheaper experiment hiding inside the elaborate plan.

Workflow

  1. Pin the load-bearing assumption(s) — what must hold for the whole thing to stand.
  2. Attack on whatever axes apply — the general ones first: a load-bearing fact that may be false, confabulation (a post-hoc story treated as ground truth), analogy-mistaken-for-isomorphism (structure assumed to transfer across domains where it doesn't), future-tense suture (the argument leans on a result that doesn't exist yet), and the sharpest — cites a principle but implements its opposite; and for empirical / research plans, leakage (no external ground-truth enters the validation independently) and statistical power / family-wise α (a true hypothesis auto-failing from uncorrected tests; a near-zero-power condition that rubber-stamps regardless of truth).
  3. Collapse the findings to the single root objection — the one whose failure makes the others moot.
  4. Find the first nail — the cheapest falsification of the load-bearing assumption: the check (in time / cost / sample) that could kill it before the expensive program runs.
  5. Return { root, first_nail } — not a list.

Rules

  • Attack, don't improve — improving is a different reflex.
  • Own the synthesis — many axes may fire, but collapse them to the single load-bearing root; return that, never a list.

Verification

Before finishing:

  1. The root is genuinely load-bearing — the plan falls without it.
  2. The first nail is genuinely cheaper than the plan it would pre-empt.

When should I use Hate?

Hate fits situations like: tasks that involve Accessibility.

How do I install Hate in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add LilMGenius/paperthin --skill hate -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/depth/hate in LilMGenius/paperthin) into .claude/skills/hate in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Hate in Codex?

Run `npx skills add LilMGenius/paperthin --skill hate -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/depth/hate in LilMGenius/paperthin) into .agents/skills/hate in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Hate in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add LilMGenius/paperthin --skill hate -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/hate, .gemini/skills/hate, .github/skills/hate and .opencode/skills/hate in your project.

What does Hate need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Hate is instructions for the agent only.

Does Hate access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Hate safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Hate use?

Hate is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Hate use?

About 604 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.

What are the alternatives to Hate?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Hate: Ant Design (kqcoxn/MaaPipelineEditor, 408 stars), Scout UI Testing (elastic/kibana, 21k stars), Maplibre Cartography (maplibre/maplibre-agent-skills, 151 stars) and Gui Debug (natsukium/dotfiles, 106 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.

Who maintains Hate?

LilMGenius (a GitHub user) maintains it in LilMGenius/paperthin, which has 1,130 GitHub stars. The repository holds 28 skills in this directory. The repository was last updated on October 1, 2026.
