Adds missing Simplified and Traditional Chinese translations to the Claude Desktop Chinese patch across three layers, then checks how many mappings actually hit.
Fills missing translations in claude-tap's viewer_i18n.json by sending untranslated keys to OpenRouter for Japanese, Korean, French, Arabic, German and Russian.

translate-i18nFills missing translations in claude-tap's viewer_i18n.json by sending untranslated keys to OpenRouter for Japanese, Korean, French, Arabic, German and Russian.
This skill is for the claude-tap project's viewer strings. After English or Chinese UI text changes in claude_tap/viewer_i18n.json, it finds keys present in both the en and zh-CN blocks but missing from the other languages and translates them through OpenRouter, defaulting to the google/gemini-2.5-flash model. The steps are a dry run first, then the real run that writes back into the JSON file in place, then a JSON syntax check and the project's pytest test.
The script checks that every language block is a string-to-string map, includes existing translations in its prompt for consistency, normalizes fullwidth punctuation for CJK languages to match the zh-CN style and inserts new entries after the existing keys. Flags include --dry-run, --model, --target, --file and --object-name. It only fills missing keys, so changing an existing string means deleting it from the target blocks before rerunning. OPENROUTER_API_KEY must be set in the environment.
3 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit e17ed32. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
uvFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use uv, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
OPENROUTER_API_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Viewer i18n Translator loads about 666 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 58 tokens; SKILL.md has 290 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

.claude/skills/translate-i18n/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Automatically fill missing translations for the viewer's claude_tap/viewer_i18n.json source file. The script uses English and Chinese as source languages and translates to Japanese, Korean, French, Arabic, German, and Russian.
OPENROUTER_API_KEY must be set in the environment (it is in the user's .zshrc)google/gemini-2.5-flashAlways preview first to confirm which keys need translation:
uv run python scripts/translate_i18n.py --dry-runThis parses claude_tap/viewer_i18n.json, finds keys present in both en and zh-CN but missing in other languages, and lists them without modifying the file.
uv run python scripts/translate_i18n.pyThe script calls OpenRouter once per target language, then writes the translations back into viewer_i18n.json in-place.
After translation, run the formatter and tests to make sure nothing broke:
uv run python -m json.tool claude_tap/viewer_i18n.json >/dev/null
uv run pytest tests/test_translate_i18n.py -v| Flag | Purpose |
|---|---|
--dry-run | Show missing keys only, no file changes |
--model MODEL | Override the OpenRouter model (default: google/gemini-2.5-flash) |
--target {viewer, cli} | Translation target preset (default: viewer) |
--file PATH | Override target file path |
--object-name NAME | Override the legacy JS/Python i18n object name |
The script:
en + zh-CN but missing in target languagesAdded a new UI string: Add the key to both en and zh-CN blocks in claude_tap/viewer_i18n.json, then run this skill. The other 6 languages will be filled automatically.
Changed an existing string: The script only fills missing keys. To re-translate an existing key, first delete it from the target language blocks, then run the script.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Viewer i18n Translator needs the command-line tools its instructions call (uv) and credentials named OPENROUTER_API_KEY. Our summary lists: An OPENROUTER_API_KEY environment variable; uv and the project's Python environment; The repository's scripts/translate_i18n.py script.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use uv, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
