sync-go-modulesSynchronize all tracked Go modules with the go-mod-consistency CI and refresh the root vendor tree.
Sync Go Modules is an agent skill from kubernetes-sigs/cloud-provider-azure, published by the product's own GitHub organization. Synchronize all tracked Go modules with the go-mod-consistency CI and refresh the root vendor tree. Use when go-mod-consistency fails, dependency bumps leave go.mod or go.sum stale, or the user asks to unblock module consistency, tidy all modules, or update vendor for the main module.
Its SKILL.md is about 910 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 3 other files, including scripts (for example `scripts/sync_go_modules.py` and `scripts/test_sync_go_modules.py`).
It sits in DevOps & Cloud. It works with Go and Kubernetes. The repository describes itself as: Cloud provider for Azure. The licence is Apache-2.0.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit bac9134. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 2 files in scripts/ (Python), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
gogitpython3makeFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Sync Go Modules loads about 906 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 75 tokens; SKILL.md has 339 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
The full file from kubernetes-sigs/cloud-provider-azure at commit bac9134, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© kubernetes-sigs). 339 words, ~906 tokens.
.claude/skills/sync-go-modules/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 2 other files; get the full folder from GitHub.Use this skill when the go-mod-consistency workflow fails or when a dependency
change needs repo-wide go.mod / go.sum reconciliation. The workflow mirrors
.github/workflows/go-mod-consistency.yaml and
.github/actions/discover-go-modules/action.yml, then also refreshes the main
module's vendor/ tree.
Replace <SKILL_DIR> with the path to this skill directory.
GIT_OPTIONAL_LOCKS=0 git status --shortIf there are unrelated uncommitted changes, stop and report the conflict. If the
existing changes are the module/dependency edits you are intentionally syncing,
pass --allow-dirty to the helper.
python3 <SKILL_DIR>/scripts/sync_go_modules.py --repo .For an intentionally dirty dependency branch:
python3 <SKILL_DIR>/scripts/sync_go_modules.py --repo . --allow-dirtyThe helper discovers modules with the same tracked-file pathspec as CI:
GIT_OPTIONAL_LOCKS=0 git ls-files 'go.mod' '**/go.mod'It then runs go mod tidy and go mod verify in every discovered module, with
GOTOOLCHAIN=local so local behavior does not drift through automatic toolchain
downloads.
(cd . && go mod vendor)Use --skip-vendor only when the user explicitly asks to sync nested modules
without touching root vendored dependencies.
GIT_OPTIONAL_LOCKS=0 git diff --statExpected changes are scoped to tracked module files (go.mod / go.sum) and,
when the root module changed, vendor/ plus vendor/modules.txt. If the vendor
dependency set changed and the PR also needs license snapshots refreshed, rerun
the helper with --update-vendor-licenses or run make update-vendor-licenses.
That license update is adjacent to vendoring, but it is not part of the
go-mod-consistency workflow itself.
python3 <SKILL_DIR>/scripts/sync_go_modules.py --repo . --check-clean--check-clean fails if the sync produces any repository diff, matching the CI
"Fail on uncommitted changes" step.
Helper-owned Git commands are read-only and run with
GIT_OPTIONAL_LOCKS=0. This suppresses optional index refresh writes without
weakening required locking for checkout, staging, commit, push, or ref-update
operations performed outside this helper.
If the helper cannot be used, run the CI-equivalent loop manually:
mapfile -t go_mods < <(GIT_OPTIONAL_LOCKS=0 git ls-files 'go.mod' '**/go.mod')
mapfile -t modules < <(for mod in "${go_mods[@]}"; do dirname "$mod"; done | sort -u)
for m in "${modules[@]}"; do
echo ">> go mod tidy (${m})"
(cd "${m}" && GOTOOLCHAIN=local go mod tidy)
echo ">> go mod verify (${m})"
(cd "${m}" && GOTOOLCHAIN=local go mod verify)
done
GOTOOLCHAIN=local go mod vendor
GIT_OPTIONAL_LOCKS=0 git diff --statDo not use find . -name go.mod for this repo. Hidden local worktrees and other
untracked directories can contain extra modules that CI does not discover.

Sync Go Modules is an agent skill from kubernetes-sigs/cloud-provider-azure, published by the product's own GitHub organization. Synchronize all tracked Go modules with the go-mod-consistency CI and refresh the root vendor tree.
Sync Go Modules fits situations like: go-mod-consistency fails; dependency bumps leave go.mod; the user asks to unblock module consistency; tidy all modules.
Run `npx skills add kubernetes-sigs/cloud-provider-azure --skill sync-go-modules -a claude-code`. Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add kubernetes-sigs/cloud-provider-azure --skill sync-go-modules -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/sync-go-modules, .gemini/skills/sync-go-modules, .github/skills/sync-go-modules and .opencode/skills/sync-go-modules in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Sync Go Modules needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (go, git, python3 and make). Our summary lists: Python 3.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Sync Go Modules is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 906 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.6k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
