build-connectorWrites a new Dinobase YAML connector for a REST API that has no verified dlt source, covering auth, pagination, read and write endpoints and incremental loading.
Dinobase is an agent-first database that syncs data from more than 100 sources into DuckDB. This skill is for the case where dlt has no verified source for an API; if one exists, the agent only adds an entry to the registry in dinobase/sync/registry.py instead. The YAML it writes is translated to dlt's rest_api_source, which handles authentication, pagination, rate limiting and incremental loading.
The agent first researches the API with web fetch and search: base URL and versioning, auth method, pagination style, every read and write endpoint, where records sit in the JSON response, incremental timestamp fields, rate limits, nested resources and bulk endpoints. It then checks whether dlt already has a source, and otherwise saves a config under dinobase/sync/sources/configs. The skill lists the supported auth types (bearer, http_basic, api_key) and paginator types such as cursor, and takes the API name as its argument.

Dinobase Connector Builder loads about 1.9k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 57 tokens; SKILL.md has 441 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 441 words (~1,863 tokens).

Dinobase Connector Builder fits situations like: adding a connector for a REST API that dlt has no verified source for; configuring pagination and incremental loading for a new Dinobase source; adding write endpoints such as create and update to a connector; deciding between a registry entry and a YAML connector.
Run `npx skills add kappa90/dinobase --skill build-connector -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/build-connector in kappa90/dinobase) into .claude/skills/build-connector in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add kappa90/dinobase --skill build-connector -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/build-connector in kappa90/dinobase) into .agents/skills/build-connector in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add kappa90/dinobase --skill build-connector -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/build-connector, .gemini/skills/build-connector, .github/skills/build-connector and .opencode/skills/build-connector in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Dinobase Connector Builder needs the command-line tools its instructions call (python3). Our summary lists: A Dinobase checkout with the dlt sources package installed; Web access to read the target API's documentation.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Dinobase Connector Builder has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.9k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 7.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
