What it does

Command Dispatch is an agent skill from jxxghp/MoviePilot. Use this skill when the user sends a slash command or asks to run a MoviePilot system or plugin command in natural language. Discover the live command catalog, resolve the exact command, and dispatch it through the structured API gateway.

Its SKILL.md is about 370 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Agent Workflows, covering Microservices and Hooks and plugins. The licence is GPL-3.0.

When your agent uses it

  • The user sends a slash command
  • Asks to run a MoviePilot system
  • Plugin command in natural language

Example prompts

  • “/command-dispatch”

Requirements

  • Pre-approved tools (allowed-tools): moviepilot_api

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. For a literal /command ..., preserve the command text and inspect the live
  2. For natural-language requests, call slash.list, then match the returned
  3. Never invent a command or argument. If the live catalog has no match, report
  4. Command execution changes external state. Obtain confirmation unless the user
  5. Dispatch with slash.run and body.command containing the complete command,

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 6c9ebd0. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

    • moviepilot_api

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Command Dispatch loads about 369 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 64 tokens; SKILL.md has 147 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~64
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~369

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Command Dispatch

Use moviepilot_api; retired command tools and MCP aliases do not exist.

  1. For a literal /command ..., preserve the command text and inspect the live catalog with slash.list when availability or syntax is uncertain.
  2. For natural-language requests, call slash.list, then match the returned name, description, and category. If a plugin owns the capability, optionally call plugin.capabilities for its declared commands and actions.
  3. Never invent a command or argument. If the live catalog has no match, report that no supported command was found.
  4. Command execution changes external state. Obtain confirmation unless the user already explicitly requested the exact command/action.
  5. Dispatch with slash.run and body.command containing the complete command, for example /sites disable 3. Check the returned acceptance/result before reporting completion.

Examples of intent mapping such as site sync, subscription refresh, cache clear, or restart are hints only; the live slash.list response is authoritative.
