apex-host-workflow-startStart or resume an APEX workflow or named step in Agent Host after manual owner selection.
Apex Host Workflow Start is an agent skill from jonathan-vella/apex. Start or resume an APEX workflow or named step in Agent Host after manual owner selection. Use /apex-host-workflow-start with an explicit operation; resume can discover the project. Not a model-routing substitute.
Its SKILL.md is about 540 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in AI & LLM Engineering, covering Model routing and gateways. The repository describes itself as: APEX turns Azure platform engineering requirements into verified, deploy-ready IaC — powered by GitHub Copilot agents, real-time pricing, and built-in compliance. The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 15a629a. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Apex Host Workflow Start loads about 538 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 60 tokens; SKILL.md has 230 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from jonathan-vella/apex at commit 15a629a, republished under its MIT licence (© jonathan-vella). 230 words, ~538 tokens.
.claude/skills/apex-host-workflow-start/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Require an explicit operation; require a project except for resume, which may
discover candidates. Require the correctly selected named owner, its exact
configured model, and its permitted tools. A skill cannot bind them.
STOP and ask the user to select the owner if any routing evidence is missing.
Never execute a Sol step under MAI or dispatch it as a MAI subagent.
Read apex-workflow-engine and its workflow entry procedure. Resolve the requested operation to its exact owner before consequential work. Follow the required inputs, activities, outputs, reviews, and human gates there. Return a blocker instead of inheriting an unknown model or widening tools.
For resume, require the selected owner 01-Orchestrator and its configured
MAI-Code-1.1-Flash model. Follow the shared resume procedure.
Use a supplied project without reconfirmation; otherwise discover candidates
and ask only when ambiguous. Empty recall never authorizes a fresh start.
Preserve missing-input recovery, reviews, checkpoints and approvals. Present
recovered status and the applicable gate or exact human handoff, then stop.
Never dispatch Sol or any step agent under MAI, or run specialist work inline.
This distinct Host slash name does not replace any Local prompt slash name.
Local /apex-resume-workflow is unchanged. Git commit and debug-log export
remain separate manual commands, not workflow-start operations.
Native discovery and execution remain manual and unverified. Do not enable
experimental nesting or context forks to make a transition work.

Apex Host Workflow Start fits situations like: tasks that involve Model routing and gateways.
Run `npx skills add jonathan-vella/apex --skill apex-host-workflow-start -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.github/skills/apex-host-workflow-start in jonathan-vella/apex) into .claude/skills/apex-host-workflow-start in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add jonathan-vella/apex --skill apex-host-workflow-start -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/apex-host-workflow-start, .gemini/skills/apex-host-workflow-start, .github/skills/apex-host-workflow-start and .opencode/skills/apex-host-workflow-start in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Apex Host Workflow Start is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Apex Host Workflow Start is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 538 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
