runway-local-dev-loopBuild and test a Runway integration locally with recorded contracts, deterministic task states, and an opt-in paid canary.
Runway Local Dev Loop is an agent skill from jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace. Build and test a Runway integration locally with recorded contracts, deterministic task states, and an opt-in paid canary. Use when shortening iteration without duplicate spend. Trigger with: "develop Runway locally", "mock Runway tasks", "Runway dev loop".
Its SKILL.md is about 1.3k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including reference files (for example `references/official-docs.md`). Compatibility notes: Requires server-side Runway Dev access, current first-party documentation, an approved credit budget, and controlled media storage.
It sits in DevOps & Cloud, covering Deployment. The repository describes itself as: Model-agnostic agent-skills platform with a harness-free canonical layer, verified adapters, and the ccpi package manager. Explore at tonsofskills.com. The licence is MIT.
6 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit cfae287. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
ReadGrepWriteEditFrom allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
RUNWAYML_API_SECRETFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Requires server-side Runway Dev access, current first-party documentation, an approved credit budget, and controlled media storage.
From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Runway Local Dev Loop loads about 1.3k tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.3k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 70 tokens; SKILL.md has 559 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

.claude/skills/runway-local-dev-loop/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 1 other file; get the full folder from GitHub.Make routine development deterministic and non-billable. The local loop should model Runway's asynchronous protocol accurately, while a separately authorized canary detects provider drift without turning every test run into paid generation.
Use Read and Grep to locate direct SDK calls, task persistence, output download code, retries, and cancellation. Introduce one provider interface if application code currently imports the SDK everywhere.
Create fixtures for PENDING, THROTTLED, RUNNING, SUCCEEDED, FAILED, and CANCELLED. Make only SUCCEEDED include output; make failed fixtures include a machine-readable failure code.
Inject polling time, jitter, timeout, and HTTP transport. Tests should advance a fake clock and never wait five real seconds or contact Runway.
Persist an internal operation ID and provider task ID. Simulate a lost response after task creation and prove recovery reads the saved task rather than issuing another paid request.
Use tiny synthetic files and fixtures for public URL, data URI, and runway:// input. Model auto-crop review, upload expiry, output expiry, and owned-storage copy without retaining real signed URLs.
Require an explicit environment switch, safe prompt, model schema check, credit ceiling, and named approver. Keep CI and ordinary local commands on the fake provider.
Fixtures contain no usable secrets. The optional canary reads RUNWAYML_API_SECRET only in the server process, uses the reviewed version header, and refuses to run when the opt-in approval variables are incomplete.
Use Read and Grep to inspect application configuration, provider documentation, lockfiles, fixtures, schemas, tests, and redacted operational evidence before proposing a change. Use Write or Edit only for an approved implementation, configuration, test, runbook, or redacted receipt. Do not create, cancel, delete, retry, deploy, rotate, revoke, publish, or otherwise mutate production Runway resources without explicit operator approval.
Return the environment, organization alias, operation and task identifiers, API and SDK versions, model or router policy, source-contract fingerprint, task-state evidence, credit boundary, output disposition, unresolved risk, rollback state, and final decision without exposing API secrets, prompt or media contents, or temporary signed URLs.
A developer reproduces a timeout after task creation by advancing a fake clock. The service restarts, finds the stored task ID, resumes retrieval, and copies a fixture output without creating a second task or spending credits.
| Failure | Response |
|---|---|
| A unit test reaches the network | Fail closed and replace the unmocked client path. |
| Fixture accepts output on a non-success state | Correct the contract and add a regression assertion. |
| Canary variables are partially set | Refuse the call and print the missing approval fields without printing the secret. |
Run the suite with network access disabled, prove all six task states, simulate a lost create response and expired output, and separately document any approved live canary. Routine local success must not depend on provider availability.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Runway Local Dev Loop needs credentials named RUNWAYML_API_SECRET. Our summary lists: A credential in RUNWAYML_API_SECRET. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Read, Grep, Write, Edit. Compatibility (from SKILL.md): Requires server-side Runway Dev access, current first-party documentation, an approved credit budget, and controlled media storage..
SKILL.md names 1 domain. As links in the text: docs.dev.runwayml.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Runway Local Dev Loop is published under the MIT licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.3k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 5.2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 969 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
