kotlin-specialistApplies idiomatic Kotlin 1.9+ patterns for coroutines and Flow, multiplatform code, Jetpack Compose on Android and Ktor servers, checked with detekt and ktlint.
The agent works from architecture to tests: identify platform targets and coroutine patterns, model state with sealed and data classes, implement with coroutines, Flow and extension functions, validate, optimize, then test. Checkpoints confirm that coroutine cancellation is handled and null safety is enforced, and detekt and ktlint must both pass with every reported issue fixed before work continues. Tests use runTest and Turbine, and optimization covers inline classes and sequence operations.
Reference files cover coroutines and Flow with structured concurrency, Kotlin Multiplatform with expect and actual declarations, Android with Jetpack Compose, ViewModel and Material3, Ktor routing, plugins, authentication and serialization, and type-safe DSL builders, scope functions and delegates. Examples show a sealed UiState class, a repository that uses structured concurrency instead of GlobalScope, safe calls with the elvis operator, and scope functions.
6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 1be15d8. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are kotlin).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Kotlin Specialist loads about 1.5k tokens when it runs, and up to ~13k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 116 tokens; SKILL.md has 360 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from Jeffallan/claude-skills at commit 1be15d8, republished under its MIT licence (© Jeffallan). 360 words, ~1,525 tokens.

Kotlin Specialist fits situations like: writing coroutine and Flow code with correct cancellation; sharing code across platforms with Kotlin Multiplatform; building Android screens with Jetpack Compose and ViewModel; setting up a Ktor server with routing, authentication and serialization.
Run `npx skills add Jeffallan/claude-skills --skill kotlin-specialist -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/kotlin-specialist in Jeffallan/claude-skills) into .claude/skills/kotlin-specialist in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add Jeffallan/claude-skills --skill kotlin-specialist -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/kotlin-specialist in Jeffallan/claude-skills) into .agents/skills/kotlin-specialist in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Jeffallan/claude-skills --skill kotlin-specialist -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/kotlin-specialist, .gemini/skills/kotlin-specialist, .github/skills/kotlin-specialist and .opencode/skills/kotlin-specialist in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Kotlin Specialist is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: `detekt` and `ktlint` for the validate step.
SKILL.md names 3 domains. As links in the text: github.com, synergetic.solutions and jeffallan.github.io. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Kotlin Specialist is published under the MIT licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.5k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 6.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 12k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
