At a glance

Builds Laravel 10+ applications with Eloquent models, Sanctum authentication, Horizon queues, API resources and Livewire components, tested with Pest or PHPUnit.

  • Works in 5 steps: Analyse requirements — Identify models,… → Design architecture — Plan database… → Implement models — Create Eloquent… → …
  • Creating Eloquent models, relationships and migrations
  • SKILL.md covers Core Workflow, Reference Guide, Constraints and Code Templates, plus 2 more sections
  • Calls php

What it does

The agent identifies models, relationships and queue needs, plans the schema, service layers and job queues, then implements Eloquent models with relationships, scopes and casts, checking them with php artisan make:model and migrate:status. Controllers, services, API resources and jobs follow, with php artisan route:list to verify routing. php artisan test runs before any step counts as finished, aiming for coverage above 85%.

The rules call for PHP 8.2+ features such as readonly and enums, type hints on every parameter and return, eager loading to avoid N+1 queries, API resources for output, queued long-running tasks, dependency injection and PSR-12. They rule out unprotected raw queries, business logic in controllers and ignored queue failures. Reference files cover Eloquent, routing and APIs, queues and Horizon, Livewire and Pest testing, and the code templates include a model, migration, API resource, queued job and feature test.

When your agent uses it

  • Creating Eloquent models, relationships and migrations
  • Building a REST API with Laravel API resources and Sanctum tokens
  • Setting up queued jobs and Horizon workers
  • Building interactive pages with Livewire components
  • Writing Pest or PHPUnit feature tests and fixing N+1 queries

Example prompts

  • “Create Invoice and LineItem models with a one-to-many relationship, a migration and factories.”
  • “Add Sanctum token authentication to the mobile API and protect the orders routes.”
  • “Move the report export into a queued job and show failed jobs in Horizon.”
  • “Find the N+1 queries on the dashboard page and fix them with eager loading.”

Requirements

  • PHP 8.2 or later with Laravel 10 or later

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Analyse requirements — Identify models, relationships, APIs, and queue needs
  2. Design architecture — Plan database schema, service layers, and job queues
  3. Implement models — Create Eloquent models with relationships, scopes, and casts; run php artisan make:model and verify with php artisan…
  4. Build features — Develop controllers, services, API resources, and jobs; run php artisan route:list to verify routing
  5. Test thoroughly — Write feature and unit tests; run php artisan test before considering any step complete (target >85% coverage)

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 1be15d8. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • php

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):

    • github.com
    • synergetic.solutions
    • jeffallan.github.io

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Laravel Specialist loads about 2.1k tokens when it runs, and up to ~14k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 120 tokens; SKILL.md has 360 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~120
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~2.1k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~14k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Laravel Specialist

Senior Laravel specialist with deep expertise in Laravel 10+, Eloquent ORM, and modern PHP 8.2+ development.

Core Workflow

  1. Analyse requirements — Identify models, relationships, APIs, and queue needs
  2. Design architecture — Plan database schema, service layers, and job queues
  3. Implement models — Create Eloquent models with relationships, scopes, and casts; run php artisan make:model and verify with php artisan migrate:status
  4. Build features — Develop controllers, services, API resources, and jobs; run php artisan route:list to verify routing
  5. Test thoroughly — Write feature and unit tests; run php artisan test before considering any step complete (target >85% coverage)

Reference Guide

Constraints

MUST DO
  • Use PHP 8.2+ features (readonly, enums, typed properties)
  • Type hint all method parameters and return types
  • Use Eloquent relationships properly (avoid N+1 with eager loading)
  • Implement API resources for transforming data
  • Queue long-running tasks
  • Write comprehensive tests (>85% coverage)
  • Use service containers and dependency injection
  • Follow PSR-12 coding standards
Show full SKILL.md (158 more words)Show less
MUST NOT DO
  • Use raw queries without protection (SQL injection)
  • Skip eager loading (causes N+1 problems)
  • Store sensitive data unencrypted
  • Mix business logic in controllers
  • Hardcode configuration values
  • Skip validation on user input
  • Use deprecated Laravel features
  • Ignore queue failures

With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Jeffallan/claude-skills --skill laravel-specialist -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/laravel-specialist, .gemini/skills/laravel-specialist, .github/skills/laravel-specialist and .opencode/skills/laravel-specialist in your project.

What does Laravel Specialist need to run?

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Laravel Specialist needs the command-line tools its instructions call (php). Our summary lists: PHP 8.2 or later with Laravel 10 or later.

Does Laravel Specialist access the network?

SKILL.md names 3 domains. As links in the text: github.com, synergetic.solutions and jeffallan.github.io. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Laravel Specialist safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Laravel Specialist use?

Laravel Specialist is published under the MIT licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Laravel Specialist use?

About 2.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 8.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 12k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.

What are the alternatives to Laravel Specialist?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Laravel Specialist: Fortify Development (coollabsio/coolify, 63k stars), Passport Development (trypostit/trypost, 692 stars), Spa Auth Development (gdarko/laravel-vue-starter, 145 stars) and Developing With Fortify (slimani-dev/muraqib, 129 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
