syncMid-session checkpoint. An agent skill from jdpolasky/ai-chief-of-staff.
Sync is an agent skill from jdpolasky/ai-chief-of-staff. Mid-session checkpoint. Saves to memory, flags Command Center or To-Do drift, rotates session context.
Its SKILL.md is about 310 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Productivity & Automation. It works with Obsidian. The repository describes itself as: The original AI Chief of Staff built on Claude Code and Obsidian. ADHD prosthetic, open to anyone. Superseded by chief-of-staff-2. The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 832b784. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Sync loads about 313 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 27 tokens; SKILL.md has 162 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from jdpolasky/ai-chief-of-staff at commit 832b784, republished under its MIT licence (© jdpolasky). 162 words, ~313 tokens.
.claude/skills/sync/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Mid-session checkpoint. Optional. Most short sessions don't need it. Long sessions (2+ hours) usually do.
Update existing files in .claude/memory/ rather than creating new ones. The four core files are user_profile.md, preferences.md, projects.md, session_context.md. As the system grows, additional files follow the type-prefix convention (user_*.md, feedback_*.md, project_*.md, reference_*.md); see docs/memory.md.
For session_context.md: prepend the new entry at the top with today's date. Scan the file and remove any entries older than 7 days. Keep it current.
If something we worked on this session has shifted lane status, priorities, or the state check, propose specific edits and ask before making them. Don't edit silently.
If new tasks emerged or new waiting-for items came up, propose adding them to To-Do.md (rows in the Waiting For table for the latter) and ask before adding.
Keep it short. The point is to save the one or two real decisions from the last hour, not to rewrite everything.

Mid-session checkpoint. An agent skill from jdpolasky/ai-chief-of-staff. Sync is an agent skill from jdpolasky/ai-chief-of-staff. Mid-session checkpoint.
Sync fits situations like: productivity & Automation work in your project.
Run `npx skills add jdpolasky/ai-chief-of-staff --skill sync -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/sync in jdpolasky/ai-chief-of-staff) into .claude/skills/sync in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add jdpolasky/ai-chief-of-staff --skill sync -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/sync in jdpolasky/ai-chief-of-staff) into .agents/skills/sync in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add jdpolasky/ai-chief-of-staff --skill sync -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/sync, .gemini/skills/sync, .github/skills/sync and .opencode/skills/sync in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Sync is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Sync is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 313 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 1.3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
