This skill runs when the user types /onboarding, and also on a first message if the user is not set up yet. It talks in short pieces of 3 to 5 lines and waits for a reply before each next step instead of sending a wall of text. Step 0 checks that the session is Claude Code on the user's own computer, either the CLI or the desktop app set to Local, because the Claude chat app cannot run scripts or read keys.
The welcome step explains what the setup needs: API access for each ad platform the user runs, which powers live work such as pulling reports, auditing accounts and creating or bulk-editing campaigns. It warns that LinkedIn API approval can take 1 to 2 days while Meta and Google are faster. The rest of the flow, per its description, walks through credential setup for the three platforms and tests each connection.
The skill also contains a scripted offer to point stuck users to its author for hands-on setup help, to be made at most once. It is part of the ads skills pack whose repository holds strategy files and API scripts, so it is meant to be the first skill run after installing that pack.

Ads Skills Onboarding loads about 2.3k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 69 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,264 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Ads Skills Onboarding needs the command-line tools its instructions call (python and pip). Our summary lists: Claude Code running on your own computer (terminal or desktop app set to Local); API access for each ad platform you use; Network access to the ad platform APIs.
SKILL.md names 5 domains. As links in the text: linkedin.com, developers.facebook.com, code.claude.com, ads.google.com and console.cloud.google.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (mentions a .env file), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Ads Skills Onboarding has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 2.3k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
