using-bgs-papyrusA skill your agent uses when the user wants to compile Papyrus PSC to PEX, decompile PEX to PSC, detect Creation Kit Papyrus toolchains, or inspect Papyrus capabilities for Skyrim, Fallout 4, or…
Using Bgs Papyrus is an agent skill from hashgraph-online/awesome-codex-plugins. Use when the user wants to compile Papyrus PSC to PEX, decompile PEX to PSC, detect Creation Kit Papyrus toolchains, or inspect Papyrus capabilities for Skyrim, Fallout 4, or Starfield. Triggers - "compile PSC", "decompile PEX", "PapyrusCompiler", "bgs-papyrus", "Starfield Guard syntax".
Its SKILL.md is about 1.5k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
The repository describes itself as: A curated list of awesome OpenAI Codex / ChatGPT plugins, skills, and resources. The 1 Codex Marketplace. See live plugins at: https://hol.org/plugins/best-codex-plugins. The licence is Apache-2.0.
5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 78497e5. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are powershell).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
github.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Using Bgs Papyrus loads about 1.5k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 77 tokens; SKILL.md has 585 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from hashgraph-online/awesome-codex-plugins at commit 78497e5, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© hashgraph-online). 585 words, ~1,492 tokens.
.claude/skills/using-bgs-papyrus/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).bgs-papyrus is the agent-native CLI for Papyrus compile and decompile work. It detects official Creation Kit compilers, compiles .psc to .pex, decompiles .pex to .psc through Champollion, and returns JSON envelopes for agent workflows.
Use this skill for:
Do not use this skill for plugin record edits, load-order edits, or BA2/BSA packing. Route those through the xEdit, load-order, or archive skills.
Always query the live CLI before choosing a backend or game path:
bgs-papyrus capabilities --json
bgs-papyrus detect-toolchain --json --game starfieldThe official Creation Kit must be installed by the user from Steam. Bethesda's PapyrusCompiler.exe is not bundled with this plugin and must not be copied into the repo or plugin tree. bgs-papyrus detects and drives the installed compiler.
Champollion is used for decompile. bgs-papyrus detects Champollion; it does not download it automatically. Install Champollion.exe at:
~/.bgs-modding-superpowers/tools/champollion/Champollion.exeor the user can set BGS_PAPYRUS_CHAMPOLLION to an existing executable.

bgs-papyrus decompile "D:\mods\Example\Scripts\MyQuestScript.pex" --json --game starfield --out "D:\work\decompiled"Useful options:
--out <dir>: output directory.--recursive: decompile a directory tree.--threaded: use Champollion threaded mode where supported.--sf-syntax-fix / --no-sf-syntax-fix: enable or disable Starfield syntax post-processing.The official Starfield CK compiler handles Guard syntax natively. Champollion v1.3.2 guesses some Guard syntax in a form that the CK does not accept, so bgs-papyrus applies a validated Starfield syntax post-process during decompile:
Guard ... EndGuard -> LockGuard ... EndLockGuard
TryGuard ... EndGuard -> TryLockGuard ... EndTryLockGuardThis Guard rewrite was checked by recompiling the decompiled output through the real Starfield CK compiler.
Known limitation: Champollion v1.3.2 has unrelated decompile bugs, such as remote-event casts, that can stop complex vanilla scripts from recompiling cleanly. Treat decompiled output as a strong starting point and manually fix compiler-rejected constructs. The Guard post-processor is validated; this limitation is upstream Champollion.
