What it does

Install Agent Service is an agent skill from haoruilee/awesome-agent-native-services. Use the Awesome Agent-Native Services catalog as an installation entry point. Given a task or service name, return the exact install/onboarding command for catalog services that expose Agent Skills, Claude Code plugins, URL onboarding, MCP servers, CLIs, or SDKs.

Its SKILL.md is about 1.7k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts. Compatibility notes: Works with Claude Code plugin skills and agents that can read SKILL.md.

It sits in Agent Workflows, covering MCP servers and Hooks and plugins. It works with Model Context Protocol. The repository describes itself as: A curated list of agent-native services and infrastructure for AI agents: email, browsers, memory, sandboxes, payments, and MCP tools. Includes selection criteria and onboarding… The licence is CC0-1.0.

When your agent uses it

  • Tasks that involve MCP servers
  • Tasks that involve Hooks and plugins

Example prompts

  • “/install-agent-service”

Requirements

  • Python 3
  • Node.js
  • A credential in API_KEY
  • Compatibility (from SKILL.md): Works with Claude Code plugin skills and agents that can read SKILL.md.
  • Pre-approved tools (allowed-tools): WebSearch, Read, Bash

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Repository plugin/skill — install this repo as a plugin/skill hub, then invoke a catalog skill.
  2. URL Onboarding — agent reads a machine-readable URL and self-registers.
  3. Agent Skill / Claude Code plugin — explicit skill installation command exists.
  4. MCP server — add a stdio or remote MCP endpoint.
  5. CLI / SDK — install package and call documented API.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit b1e6126. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

    • WebSearch
    • Read
    • Bash

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • npx
    • pip
    • npm
    • uvx
    • uv

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:

    • moltbook.com
    • ensue.dev
    • api.ensue-network.ai
    • raw.githubusercontent.com
    • db9.ai
    • mem9.ai
    • mails.dev
    • mailboxkit.com
    • agentsmail.org
    • sssnack.com
    • swarmmemo.com
    • dexio.wiki
    • github.com
    • mcp.olostep.com
    • api.githubcopilot.com

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:

    • API_KEY

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

  • Compatibility

Works with Claude Code plugin skills and agents that can read SKILL.md.

From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

Context cost

Install Agent Service loads about 1.7k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 71 tokens; SKILL.md has 629 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~71
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.7k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check: notes

The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.

  • NotePre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: Bash)SKILL.md
    allowed-tools: WebSearch, Read, Bash

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Skill: install-agent-service

Use this skill when a user asks to install, connect, enable, add a skill/plugin, or turn the catalog into an entry point for an agent-native service.

This skill does not blindly run third-party code. It returns a ranked install path and asks the host agent/operator to execute the command appropriate for its environment.

Installability tiers

Prefer the highest available tier:

  1. Repository plugin/skill — install this repo as a plugin/skill hub, then invoke a catalog skill.
  2. URL Onboarding — agent reads a machine-readable URL and self-registers.
  3. Agent Skill / Claude Code plugin — explicit skill installation command exists.
  4. MCP server — add a stdio or remote MCP endpoint.
  5. CLI / SDK — install package and call documented API.

When multiple tiers exist, show the highest tier first and include lower-tier fallbacks.
