publish-to-pagesPublish presentations and web content to GitHub Pages. An agent skill from github/awesome-copilot.
Publish To Pages is an agent skill from github/awesome-copilot, published by the product's own GitHub organization. Publish presentations and web content to GitHub Pages. Converts PPTX, PDF, HTML, or Google Slides to a live GitHub Pages URL. Handles repo creation, file conversion, Pages enablement, and returns the live URL. Use when the user wants to publish, deploy, or share a presentation or HTML file via GitHub Pages.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.1k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 4 other files, including scripts (for example `scripts/convert-pdf.py`, `scripts/convert-pptx.py` and `scripts/publish.sh`).
It sits in Documents & Office, covering PowerPoint presentations, Cloud office suites and PDF. It works with GitHub, Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides. The repository describes itself as: Community-contributed instructions, agents, skills, and configurations to help you make the most of GitHub Copilot. The licence is MIT.
5 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 7cce7cf. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 3 files in scripts/ (Python and Shell), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
python3pipaptbrewghcurlbashFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
github.comusername.github.iocli.github.comdocs.google.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Publish To Pages loads about 1.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 81 tokens; SKILL.md has 453 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
The full file from github/awesome-copilot at commit 7cce7cf, republished under its MIT licence (© github). 453 words, ~1,133 tokens.

Run these silently. Only surface errors:
command -v gh >/dev/null || echo "MISSING: gh CLI — install from https://cli.github.com"
gh auth status &>/dev/null || echo "MISSING: gh not authenticated — run 'gh auth login'"
command -v python3 >/dev/null || echo "MISSING: python3 (needed for PPTX conversion)"poppler-utils is optional (PDF conversion via pdftoppm). Don't block on it.
Determine input type from what the user provides:
| Input | Detection |
|---|---|
| HTML file | Extension .html or .htm |
| PPTX file | Extension .pptx |
| PDF file | Extension .pdf |
| Google Slides URL | URL contains docs.google.com/presentation |
Ask the user for a repo name if not provided. Default: filename without extension.
Both conversion scripts automatically detect large files and switch to external assets mode:
assets/assets/This keeps individual files well under GitHub's 100MB limit. Small files still produce a single self-contained HTML.
You can force the behavior with --external-assets or --no-external-assets.
No conversion needed. Use the file directly as index.html.
Run the conversion script:
python3 SKILL_DIR/scripts/convert-pptx.py INPUT_FILE /tmp/output.html
# For large files, force external assets:
python3 SKILL_DIR/scripts/convert-pptx.py INPUT_FILE /tmp/output.html --external-assetsIf python-pptx is missing, tell the user: pip install python-pptx
Convert with the included script (requires poppler-utils for pdftoppm):
python3 SKILL_DIR/scripts/convert-pdf.py INPUT_FILE /tmp/output.html
# For large files, force external assets:
python3 SKILL_DIR/scripts/convert-pdf.py INPUT_FILE /tmp/output.html --external-assetsEach page is rendered as a PNG and embedded into HTML with slide navigation.
If pdftoppm is missing, tell the user: apt install poppler-utils (or brew install poppler on macOS).
/d/ and /)curl -L "https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/PRESENTATION_ID/export/pptx" -o /tmp/slides.pptxRepos are created public by default. If the user specifies private (or wants a private repo), use --private — but note that GitHub Pages on private repos requires a Pro, Team, or Enterprise plan.
bash SKILL_DIR/scripts/publish.sh /path/to/index.html REPO_NAME public "Description"Pass private instead of public if the user requests it.
The script creates the repo, pushes index.html (plus assets/ if present), and enables GitHub Pages.
Note: When external assets mode is used, the output HTML references files in assets/. The publish script automatically detects and copies the assets/ directory alongside the HTML file. Make sure the HTML file and its assets/ directory are in the same parent directory.
Tell the user:
https://github.com/USERNAME/REPO_NAMEhttps://USERNAME.github.io/REPO_NAME/my-slides-2) or a date (my-slides-2026).pip install python-pptx.poppler-utils (apt install poppler-utils or brew install poppler).© github, MIT. Rendered from Markdown: HTML in the file is shown as text, images as links, and headings moved down two levels. Raw file

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Publish To Pages needs Python and a shell for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (python3, pip, apt, brew, gh and curl). Our summary lists: Python 3; A Bash shell.
SKILL.md names 4 domains. In commands or code: github.com, username.github.io, cli.github.com and docs.google.com; the agent is likely to contact these when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Publish To Pages is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
