skill-base-cliUses the skb command to search, install, update, delete, publish and import skills on a Skill Base site, including curated collections and GitHub imports.
The agent works by running terminal commands with the skb command from the skill-base-cli package, installed globally with npm or run through npx on Node.js 18 or newer. The server address comes from the SKB_BASE_URL variable, then from ~/.skill-base/config.json, with a local default, and skb init --server saves the site root URL without the /api suffix. Besides single skills, an administrator-curated collection can be installed in one step.
Search, install, update and init need no login, so the agent should not ask you to log in first. Publishing and GitHub import do. skb login prints a login page URL, you sign in through the browser, receive a short verification code and type it into the terminal, which is exchanged for a personal access token, and skb logout ends the session. Deploying or maintaining the Skill Base server itself belongs to the separate skill-base-web-deploy skill.

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 5fc42f3. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Skill Base CLI loads about 1.9k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 119 tokens; SKILL.md has 856 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 856 words (~1,922 tokens).
“Assistants should complete operations by running terminal commands. Package name skill-base-cli, command skb after installation.”

Skill Base CLI fits situations like: searching a private Skill Base site and installing a skill from it; installing a recommended skill collection for a team in one step; publishing a local skill or importing one from GitHub into Skill Base; pointing the skb client at a server or checking whether you are logged in.
Run `npx skills add ginuim/skill-base --skill skill-base-cli -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/skill-base-cli in ginuim/skill-base) into .claude/skills/skill-base-cli in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add ginuim/skill-base --skill skill-base-cli -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/skill-base-cli in ginuim/skill-base) into .agents/skills/skill-base-cli in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add ginuim/skill-base --skill skill-base-cli -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/skill-base-cli, .gemini/skills/skill-base-cli, .github/skills/skill-base-cli and .opencode/skills/skill-base-cli in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Skill Base CLI needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npm and npx). Our summary lists: Node.js 18 or newer; The address of a Skill Base server; A Skill Base login, for publishing and GitHub import.
SKILL.md names 1 domain. In commands or code: github.com; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
No licence was found for Skill Base CLI or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 1.9k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 7.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
