Hook Development for Claude Code Plugins
anthropics/claude-plugins-official
Explains how to write Claude Code plugin hooks, both prompt-based checks and bash commands, for events such as PreToolUse, Stop and SessionStart.
Clears the edit boundary that /freeze set, so the agent can modify every directory again without ending the session.

unfreezeClears the edit boundary that /freeze set, so the agent can modify every directory again without ending the session.
Counterpart to the /freeze skill. It removes the restriction that limited edits to part of the project, using the freeze-state.sh helper with its clear command, so edits are allowed in all directories again.
The helper serializes the change with other freeze operations. If it reports FREEZE_BUSY or an unexpected state, the skill leaves everything untouched and reports how to recover, and it never deletes state or a possibly active lock itself. The freeze hooks stay registered for the session but allow everything once no state file exists; running /freeze again sets a new boundary.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 5cb5e1c. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
BashReadFrom allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
gitbashFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Unfreeze Edits loads about 436 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 25 tokens; SKILL.md has 119 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
allowed-tools: Bash, ReadAutomated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Remove the edit restriction set by /freeze, allowing edits to all directories.

Tell the user the result. Note that /freeze hooks are still registered for the
session — they will just allow everything since no state file exists. To re-freeze,
run /freeze again.

Clears the edit boundary that /freeze set, so the agent can modify every directory again without ending the session. Counterpart to the /freeze skill.sh helper with its clear command, so edits are allowed in all directories again.
Unfreeze Edits fits situations like: widening edit scope after working inside a frozen directory; allowing edits everywhere without restarting the session; removing a freeze that is no longer needed.
Run `npx skills add garrytan/gstack --skill unfreeze -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (unfreeze in garrytan/gstack) into .claude/skills/unfreeze in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add garrytan/gstack --skill unfreeze -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (unfreeze in garrytan/gstack) into .agents/skills/unfreeze in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add garrytan/gstack --skill unfreeze -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/unfreeze, .gemini/skills/unfreeze, .github/skills/unfreeze and .opencode/skills/unfreeze in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Unfreeze Edits needs the command-line tools its instructions call (git and bash). Our summary lists: An existing boundary set earlier with /freeze. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Bash, Read.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Unfreeze Edits is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 436 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 1.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
