i18n-messagesEditing extension i18n message files and their consumers. An agent skill from forcedotcom/salesforcedx-vscode.
I18n Messages is an agent skill from forcedotcom/salesforcedx-vscode. Editing extension i18n message files and their consumers. Use when editing packages//src/messages/i18n.ts, adding/changing nls.localize strings, or choosing placeholder tokens (%s/%d/...).
Its SKILL.md is about 860 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Frontend & Design, covering Internationalization. It works with Salesforce. The repository describes itself as: Salesforce Extensions for VS Code. The licence is BSD-3-Clause.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 5972473. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
I18n Messages loads about 855 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 51 tokens; SKILL.md has 345 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from forcedotcom/salesforcedx-vscode at commit 5972473, republished under its BSD-3-Clause licence (© forcedotcom). 345 words, ~855 tokens.

packages/*/src/messages/i18n.ts + code consuming those messages via nls.localizepackage.json/package.nls.json nls strings (command titles etc.)nls.localize(key, ...args) substitutes via node:util.format — packages/salesforcedx-vscode-i18n/src/i18n/message.ts:50 (return format(possibleLabel, ...labelArgs)).
| Token | Use | Behavior (node:util.format) |
|---|---|---|
%s | string | string |
%d | count/number | number as-is (3.7→3.7, no truncation) |
%i | integer | truncates float (3.7→3) |
%f | float | float |
%j | value | JSON |
%o %O | value | inspected object |
%c | — | CSS directive, no output |
%% | literal % | % only when args present; bare string skips format() (message.ts:37 args.length > 0 guard) and keeps %% |
%n | NONE | unsupported — renders literal %n, NOT substituted |
Default: counts → %d, strings → %s. (Origin: Removed %n orgs shipped literal %n.)
message.ts:39 counts specifiers with /%[sdifj%]/g (%% excluded, L40). On mismatch it logs and trims extra args (L41-48); missing args are NOT filled — trailing unmatched tokens render literally.
%o %O %c substitute at runtime but are NOT in that regex → they escape arg-count validation. Avoid relying on them; prefer %s/%d/%j.%n is not counted and not a real token → expected-count is off by what you intended and the %n prints literally.grep package.nls.json for an existing equivalent before adding — reuse, don't duplicate.
From salesforcedx-vscode-org (src/messages/i18n.ts, package.nls.json):
| Surface | Example | Cap | Punctuation |
|---|---|---|---|
Command title (package.nls.json *_text) | SFDX: Create a Default Scratch Org... | Title Case, SFDX: prefix | none (... ok for further input) |
| QuickPick/InputBox placeholder | i18n.ts:67 Select scratch orgs and sandboxes to delete | sentence | none |
| Confirm prompt | i18n.ts:68 Permanently delete %d org(s)? This cannot be undone. | sentence | terminal ./? |
Notification (show*Message) | i18n.ts:92 ... orgs expire in the next %d days. ... | sentence | terminal . |
| Button/action label | i18n.ts:69,70 Delete, Logout | Title Case | none |
| Tree/status-bar label+tooltip | i18n.ts:96 Open Default Org in Browser | Title Case | none |
| Log/channel line | — | sentence | . |
| Validation error | — | sentence | terminal . |
Don't prefix new strings with Error:/Warning: — the show*Message API supplies severity. i18n.ts:92 (Warning: One or more...) is a legacy anti-pattern; don't copy it, and don't edit it (out of scope). See vscode-window-messages.
vscode-window-messages covers the notification/button API (which show*Message, return values, Effect, modal). This skill is the message text. Don't duplicate API guidance here.
package.json / package.nls.json command titles, menus, and notification slot keys: command-ui.

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: I18n Messages is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
I18n Messages is published under the BSD-3-Clause licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 855 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
