morningReviews yesterday's journal, checks today's to-dos against your inbox and active decisions, and asks pointed questions to keep daily actions aligned with your annual goals.
The agent loads yesterday's and today's plain-text journal entries, your annual goals file, your life plan, your inbox and any open decision documents in parallel before summarizing anything. It then presents a reflective, non-judgmental summary of what was planned and what the log shows actually happened, naming avoided items and patterns, and asks you to walk through yesterday with follow-up questions rather than accepting a narrative at face value.
Yesterday's journal is updated with what really happened, using your own words rather than a polished rewrite, and completed to-dos are marked done. For today, stale carried-over items are removed, active projects and decisions are refreshed, and inbox items worth promoting are surfaced alongside the day's remaining to-dos. The tone throughout is described as a supportive coach willing to challenge, using AskUserQuestion to keep the conversation structured.
6 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 3538cb4. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are markdown).

Morning Journal and Planning loads about 1.7k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 57 tokens; SKILL.md has 913 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
allowed-tools: Read, Edit, Write, Glob, Grep, Bash, AskUserQuestionAutomated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 913 words (~1,676 tokens).

Run `npx skills add davidhariri/life-system --skill morning -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/morning in davidhariri/life-system) into .claude/skills/morning in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add davidhariri/life-system --skill morning -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/morning in davidhariri/life-system) into .agents/skills/morning in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add davidhariri/life-system --skill morning -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/morning, .gemini/skills/morning, .github/skills/morning and .opencode/skills/morning in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Morning Journal and Planning is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: A journal, goals and life-plan folder structure under a personal documents directory. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Read, Edit, Write, Glob, Grep, Bash, AskUserQuestion.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
No licence was found for Morning Journal and Planning or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 1.7k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 6.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
