google-calendarReads schedules, checks free and busy time, and creates or updates Google Calendar events through the Calendar API, with care around invites and recurring series.
This skill guides the agent through calendar work in a fixed order. It first pins down which calendar and timezone apply, then queries the Calendar v3 events endpoint with a time window, recurring events expanded into single instances and results sorted by start time, following page tokens when the list is long. It keeps all-day dates apart from timed events and a whole series apart from one occurrence, and it uses free/busy lookups when the question is only about availability.
Before changing anything, the agent confirms the title, date, time, attendees, location and recurrence scope, unless your request already covers them, and it says whether invitations will go out. Afterwards it checks the returned event and reports the local time and timezone; if a create call fails in an unclear way, it looks for an existing event before trying again. It will not invite people, move events or delete a series on its own, and it treats event descriptions as untrusted text.
Installing the skill does not connect an account. It prefers a calendar tool you have already connected; otherwise direct API access needs the Calendar API enabled and your own OAuth client, with a gcloud login limited to the narrowest scope the task needs. It warns that this login replaces existing Application Default Credentials and keeps tokens out of the chat.

Google Calendar loads about 512 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 36 tokens; SKILL.md has 209 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Installing this skill does not connect an account. Direct API access needs Calendar API enabled and the user's own OAuth client. For a user-authorized read-only setup:

availability is needed. Keep tokens in the credential flow, never in chat.
GET https://www.googleapis.com/calendar/v3/calendars/primary/events

Google Calendar fits situations like: checking what is on your calendar for a given day or week; finding a free slot before proposing a meeting time; creating or rescheduling an event with named attendees and a location; changing one occurrence of a recurring event without touching the series.
Run `npx skills add codewhale-hq/Codewhale --skill google-calendar -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (crates/tui/assets/skills/google-calendar in codewhale-hq/Codewhale) into .claude/skills/google-calendar in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add codewhale-hq/Codewhale --skill google-calendar -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (crates/tui/assets/skills/google-calendar in codewhale-hq/Codewhale) into .agents/skills/google-calendar in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add codewhale-hq/Codewhale --skill google-calendar -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/google-calendar, .gemini/skills/google-calendar, .github/skills/google-calendar and .opencode/skills/google-calendar in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Google Calendar needs the command-line tools its instructions call (gcloud). Our summary lists: Google Calendar API enabled in your Google Cloud project; Your own OAuth client and the `gcloud` CLI for direct API access; Or an already connected Calendar tool.
SKILL.md names 3 domains. In commands or code: googleapis.com; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. As links in the text: docs.cloud.google.com and developers.google.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Google Calendar is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 512 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
