spellcheckA skill your agent uses FOR spell correction. An agent skill from brave/brave-search-skills.
Spellcheck is an agent skill from brave/brave-search-skills. USE FOR spell correction. Returns corrected query if misspelled. Most search endpoints have spellcheck built-in; use this only for pre-search query cleanup or "Did you mean?" UI.
Its SKILL.md is about 580 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Productivity & Automation. The repository describes itself as: Official skills for using Brave Search API with AI coding agents. The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 62793e0. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
curlFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
api.search.brave.comAlso links to:
api-dashboard.search.brave.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
API_KEYBRAVE_SEARCH_API_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Spellcheck loads about 580 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 47 tokens; SKILL.md has 181 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Spellcheck fits situations like: spell correction.
Run `npx skills add brave/brave-search-skills --skill spellcheck -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/spellcheck in brave/brave-search-skills) into .claude/skills/spellcheck in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add brave/brave-search-skills --skill spellcheck -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/spellcheck in brave/brave-search-skills) into .agents/skills/spellcheck in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add brave/brave-search-skills --skill spellcheck -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/spellcheck, .gemini/skills/spellcheck, .github/skills/spellcheck and .opencode/skills/spellcheck in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Spellcheck needs the command-line tools its instructions call (curl) and credentials named API_KEY and BRAVE_SEARCH_API_KEY. Our summary lists: A credential in BRAVE_SEARCH_API_KEY; A credential in API_KEY.
SKILL.md names 2 domains. In commands or code: api.search.brave.com; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. As links in the text: api-dashboard.search.brave.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Spellcheck is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 580 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
