local-poisLooks up full details for local businesses and places, including ratings, hours and contact information, from Brave Search API point-of-interest IDs.
This skill documents the Brave Search API's local POI endpoint, a GET request to /res/v1/local/pois. It is the second step of a two-step flow: you first obtain POI IDs from the local place search endpoint, or from a web search filtered to locations, then pass between one and twenty of those IDs here to get full business records. The IDs are opaque strings that expire after roughly eight hours, so fresh ones should be fetched each time, and they must be URL-encoded because they can contain equals signs.
Requests carry the API key in an X-Subscription-Token header, and the endpoint is part of the Search plan. Optional parameters set the search language, UI locale and metric or imperial units, and optional latitude and longitude headers let the API report distance from the user. The response is a local_pois object whose results are location records with title, URLs, ID, description and postal address, among other fields. The excerpt ends in the middle of the response field table.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 62793e0. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
curlFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
api.search.brave.comyelp.comAlso links to:
api-dashboard.search.brave.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
BRAVE_SEARCH_API_KEYAPI_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Brave Local POI Details loads about 1.9k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 58 tokens; SKILL.md has 506 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Looks up full details for local businesses and places, including ratings, hours and contact information, from Brave Search API point-of-interest IDs.
Brave Local POI Details fits situations like: getting opening hours, ratings and phone numbers for restaurants or shops found in a search; showing distance to several businesses from a known user location; building a lookup that turns POI IDs from search results into full business details.
Run `npx skills add brave/brave-search-skills --skill local-pois -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/local-pois in brave/brave-search-skills) into .claude/skills/local-pois in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add brave/brave-search-skills --skill local-pois -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/local-pois in brave/brave-search-skills) into .agents/skills/local-pois in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add brave/brave-search-skills --skill local-pois -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/local-pois, .gemini/skills/local-pois, .github/skills/local-pois and .opencode/skills/local-pois in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Brave Local POI Details needs the command-line tools its instructions call (curl) and credentials named BRAVE_SEARCH_API_KEY and API_KEY. Our summary lists: A Brave Search API key on the Search plan; POI IDs from the local place search endpoint or a web search with the locations filter; curl or an HTTP client.
SKILL.md names 3 domains. In commands or code: api.search.brave.com and yelp.com; the agent is likely to contact these when it follows the instructions. As links in the text: api-dashboard.search.brave.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Brave Local POI Details is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.9k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 7.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
