At a glance

Privacy and shielded transactions on Base via Veil Cash (veil.cash).

  • Works in 11 steps: Install the Veil SDK → Configure Base RPC (recommended) → Make scripts executable → …
  • The user wants anonymous
  • SKILL.md covers Supported Assets, What it does, File locations (recommended) and Quick start, plus 2 more sections
  • Runs Shell scripts from its folder; calls npm and git; reaches github.com and base-mainnet.g.alchemy.com; needs VEIL_KEY

What it does

Veil is an agent skill from BankrBot/skills. Privacy and shielded transactions on Base via Veil Cash (veil.cash). Deposit ETH or USDC into private pools, withdraw/transfer privately using ZK proofs. Manage Veil keypairs, check private/queue balances across all pools, and submit deposits via Bankr. Use when the user wants anonymous or private transactions, shielded transfers, or ZK-based privacy on Base.

Its SKILL.md is about 1k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 23 other files, including scripts and reference files (for example `README.md`, `catalog.json` and `references/sdk-reference.md`).

It works with Circle USDC. The repository describes itself as: Bankr Skills equip builders with plug-and-play tools to build more powerful agents.

When your agent uses it

  • The user wants anonymous
  • Private transactions
  • Shielded transfers
  • ZK-based privacy on Base

Example prompts

  • “/veil”

Requirements

  • Node.js
  • A Bash shell
  • A credential in VEIL_KEY
  • A credential in YOUR_KEY

Workflow steps

11 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Install the Veil SDK
  2. Configure Base RPC (recommended)
  3. Make scripts executable
  4. Generate your Veil keypair
  5. Check your setup
  6. Find your Bankr Base address
  7. Check balances
  8. Deposit via Bankr (sign & submit)
  9. Withdraw (private to public)
  10. Transfer privately
  11. Merge UTXOs

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit dc47eed. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships 14 files in scripts/ (Shell, from the files we listed), which the agent can run.

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • npm
    • git

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:

    • github.com
    • base-mainnet.g.alchemy.com

    Also links to:

    • alchemy.com
    • infura.io

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:

    • VEIL_KEY

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Veil loads about 1k tokens when it runs, and up to ~4.4k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 92 tokens; SKILL.md has 267 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~92
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~4.4k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 267 words (~1,030 tokens).

“This skill wraps the @veil-cash/sdk CLI to make Veil operations agent-friendly.”

To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/veil, .gemini/skills/veil, .github/skills/veil and .opencode/skills/veil in your project.

What does Veil need to run?

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Veil needs a shell for the scripts in its folder, the command-line tools its instructions call (npm and git) and credentials named VEIL_KEY. Our summary lists: Node.js; A Bash shell; A credential in VEIL_KEY; A credential in YOUR_KEY.

Does Veil access the network?

SKILL.md names 4 domains. In commands or code: github.com and base-mainnet.g.alchemy.com; the agent is likely to contact these when it follows the instructions. As links in the text: alchemy.com and infura.io. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Veil safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md flagged 2 warning(s): mentions a paste, webhook or tunnelling service often used to send data out. Read the flagged lines before installing; the check is not a guarantee either way. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.

What licence does Veil use?

No licence was found for Veil or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.

How many tokens does Veil use?

About 1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 3.4k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
