bumpBump Houndarr version and prepare a release PR. An agent skill from av1155/houndarr.
Bump is an agent skill from av1155/houndarr. Bump Houndarr version and prepare a release PR. Promotes the Unreleased CHANGELOG block to a versioned block, runs quality gates, opens the PR. Use when the user asks to bump the version, prepare a release, or run /bump. Trigger phrases include bump, release, version bump, prepare release.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.2k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Development, covering Quality gates and Changelog and release notes. It works with Python. The repository describes itself as: Self-hosted arr companion for controlled missing, cutoff, and upgrade searches. The licence is AGPL-3.0.
11 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 9b39fdb. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
ghgitpythonFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use gh and git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Bump loads about 1.2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 74 tokens; SKILL.md has 490 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from av1155/houndarr at commit 9b39fdb, republished under its AGPL-3.0 licence (© av1155). 490 words, ~1,178 tokens.
.claude/skills/bump/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Prepare a release PR following the Houndarr versioning workflow.
Houndarr follows Keep a Changelog 1.1.0: every shipped PR adds a bullet under ## [Unreleased] as part of its own commit, so by the time bump runs, the upcoming release's bullets are already in the file. This skill's job is to promote the Unreleased block to a versioned block, not to draft one from PR titles.
The user's argument is the version bump kind: patch, minor, or an explicit X.Y.Z.
cat VERSIONNote the current version (plain X.Y.Z, no v prefix).
patch: increment patch (e.g. 1.6.5 → 1.6.6)minor: increment minor, reset patchX.Y.Z: use as-isValidate the new version is greater than the current one.
awk '/^## \[Unreleased\]$/{found=1; next} found && /^## \[/{exit} found{print}' CHANGELOG.mdIf the extracted block contains nothing more than the trailing ---, stop with "## [Unreleased] is empty. Nothing to release." and do not touch VERSION or CHANGELOG.
Mandatory. For every PR referenced in the Unreleased block:
gh pr view N --repo <owner>/<repo> --json title, body
gh pr diff N --repo <owner>/<repo> | head -400For any bullet that claims behavior (a default, a UI element, an error string, an API response shape), read the relevant source file and pin the claim to a specific file:line. Adopt the PR author's vocabulary for nuance. Every bullet must be defensible with a concrete reference; if you cannot cite one, rewrite or drop the bullet.
Keep only user-facing entries (Added, Changed, Fixed, Removed, Deprecated, Security). Drop CI/refactor/test-only/docs-only/chore/dep-bump-without-impact entries.
If no user-facing entries remain, report "No user-facing changes in Unreleased. Nothing to release." and stop.
Language pass: rewrite bullets that reference internal Python classes / private helpers / src/... paths, exceed 250 chars without a migration reason, use banned phrasings (various / improved / enhanced / better / seamlessly / robustly / significantly / leverages / utilizes / em dashes), or read as past-tense narration. Use markdown [text](url) for links.
Show the planned CHANGELOG.md unified diff. Wait for approval. Do not proceed without confirmation.

The tag fires docker.yml and release.yml independently. docker.yml attaches the provenance bundle to the release that release.yml creates, so that upload can fail after the image is already on GHCR. The result is a release that looks complete sitting beside a red workflow run, which is easy to miss.
gh run list --workflow=docker.yml --limit 1
gh release view vX.Y.Z --json assets --jq '.assets[].name'
gh attestation verify oci://ghcr.io/av1155/houndarr:vX.Y.Z --repo av1155/houndarrExpect a green run, a houndarr-vX.Y.Z.sigstore.json asset on the release, and a verify that reports a matching provenance attestation. If the asset is missing, re-run the failed docker.yml job rather than re-tagging.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Bump needs the command-line tools its instructions call (gh, git and python). Our summary lists: Python 3; Docker.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use gh and git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Bump is published under the AGPL-3.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
