pre-round-scanMandatory prelude for every role at the start of a round. An agent skill from Arch1eSUN/Arcgentic.
Pre Round Scan is an agent skill from Arch1eSUN/Arcgentic. Mandatory prelude for every role at the start of a round. Inventories available skills, MCP servers, plugins, sub-agents, and external references. Outputs which tools will be used in this round and which were considered but rejected, with reasons. Use as the very first action of every role skill in an arcgentic-managed project.
Its SKILL.md is about 630 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including reference files (for example `references/scan-checklist.md`).
It sits in Agent Workflows, covering MCP servers and Subagents. It works with Model Context Protocol. The repository describes itself as: Mechanical plan/dev/self-audit/external-audit gates for AI coding agents, with a configurable role-routing topology engine, an MCP-UI live status panel, and native-tooling Claude… The licence is MIT.
5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 8539955. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are markdown).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Pre Round Scan loads about 633 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.1k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 86 tokens; SKILL.md has 202 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from Arch1eSUN/Arcgentic at commit 8539955, republished under its MIT licence (© Arch1eSUN). 202 words, ~633 tokens.
.claude/skills/pre-round-scan/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 1 other file; get the full folder from GitHub.EVERY role skill (plan-round, execute-round, audit-round, track-refs) invokes this as its first action, before any other reasoning. Output goes into the role's handoff/verdict document as a "§ Toolkit use" section.
R1.4 Moirai mandate (post-NEEDS_FIX): "default: multi-agent dispatch is the path, serial is the exception". Without a pre-round scan, agents repeatedly forget that MCP servers / agency-agents / skills exist and default to from-scratch implementation. The scan is mechanical insurance.

### Toolkit use (pre-round scan)
**Skills available + considered:**
- arcgentic:foo — used (reason)
- arcgentic:bar — rejected (reason)
- ...
**MCP servers available + considered:**
- context7 — used for {library} docs lookup
- ...
**Sub-agents available + considered:**
- backend-architect — used for BA design pass
- ...
**External references available + considered:**
- references/X — used (used-what-part)
- references/Y — rejected (reason)
- ...Tool failures are first-class. If context7 returns 500 and you fall back to web search, record both the attempt and the fallback. Silent degradation is a Rule 2 violation in arcgentic's discipline ledger.

Pre Round Scan fits situations like: tasks that involve MCP servers; tasks that involve Subagents.
Run `npx skills add Arch1eSUN/Arcgentic --skill pre-round-scan -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/pre-round-scan in Arch1eSUN/Arcgentic) into .claude/skills/pre-round-scan in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add Arch1eSUN/Arcgentic --skill pre-round-scan -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/pre-round-scan in Arch1eSUN/Arcgentic) into .agents/skills/pre-round-scan in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Arch1eSUN/Arcgentic --skill pre-round-scan -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/pre-round-scan, .gemini/skills/pre-round-scan, .github/skills/pre-round-scan and .opencode/skills/pre-round-scan in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Pre Round Scan is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Pre Round Scan is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 633 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 462 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Pre Round Scan: Claude Automation Recommender (anthropics/claude-plugins-official, 38k stars), CC Workflow Studio AI Editor (breaking-brake/cc-wf-studio, 5.4k stars), Agent Deck (asheshgoplani/agent-deck, 1k stars) and Bootstrap (infragate/capa, 724 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
