docxCreates, edits and reviews Word documents: new files with docx-js, edits through the underlying XML, plus tracked changes, comments and conversions.
The skill treats a .docx as a ZIP archive of XML files and picks a method per task: new documents are written with the docx npm library, existing ones are unzipped and edited directly in word/document.xml, and content is read by converting to markdown with pandoc. Scripts handle accepting tracked changes, adding comments and merging text runs.
Much of the guidance is a list of docx-js pitfalls, such as A4 being the default page size, tables needing widths on both the table and every cell, bullets coming from numbering configuration rather than literal characters, and tables of contents only picking up built-in heading styles. After writing a file the agent renders it to PDF with LibreOffice and to page images to check the result, and legacy .doc files are converted first. The SKILL.md is published under a proprietary licence.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 683bc88. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 14 files in scripts/ (Python, from the files we listed), which the agent can run.

DOCX Creation and Editing loads about 1.7k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 210 tokens; SKILL.md has 633 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Its licence (Proprietary) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 633 words (~1,717 tokens).

Run `npx skills add anthropics/skills --skill docx -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/docx in anthropics/skills) into .claude/skills/docx in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add anthropics/skills --skill docx -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/docx in anthropics/skills) into .agents/skills/docx in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add anthropics/skills --skill docx -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/docx, .gemini/skills/docx, .github/skills/docx and .opencode/skills/docx in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, DOCX Creation and Editing needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (python, pandoc, npm and pdftoppm). Our summary lists: Node.js with the docx package; Python, pandoc and LibreOffice for reading, conversion and rendering.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npm, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
DOCX Creation and Editing carries a proprietary licence (declared in SKILL.md). It is published on GitHub, but it is not open source: read the licence file before using or sharing it.
About 1.7k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 6.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
