setup-notionConnect Claude Code to Notion's official hosted MCP, complete OAuth, verify the intended workspace with a read, and stop before any write.
Setup Notion is an agent skill from ai-analyst-lab/ai-analyst. Connect Claude Code to Notion's official hosted MCP, complete OAuth, verify the intended workspace with a read, and stop before any write. Use when the user asks to connect Notion, set up Notion, export to Notion, or diagnose an unavailable Notion connection.
Its SKILL.md is about 880 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Backend & APIs, covering OAuth and OpenID Connect. It works with Notion and Model Context Protocol. The repository describes itself as: AI Product Analyst — Claude Code-powered data analysis toolkit. The licence is MIT.
5 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 52c0744. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are json).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
mcp.notion.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Setup Notion loads about 883 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 68 tokens; SKILL.md has 439 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from ai-analyst-lab/ai-analyst at commit 52c0744, republished under its MIT licence (© ai-analyst-lab). 439 words, ~883 tokens.

https://mcp.notion.com/mcp.mcp.jsonNotion's hosted MCP does not currently support file uploads. Do not promise that a local chart or other file can be uploaded through this server. Create the text page first. If the user needs an attachment, they can add it manually or use a separately approved API workflow.

After approval, add this project-local server entry while preserving the rest of .mcp.json:
{

"type": "http",

}
}An equivalent supported Claude Code command is:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope project notion https://mcp.notion.com/mcpDo not put tokens or credentials in the configuration.
If this session did not load the new server, tell the user to restart Claude Code. Then have the
user run /mcp, select Notion, and complete OAuth in the browser.
Before the user authorizes access, remind them to confirm:
Do not claim that OAuth proves the destination or makes every future action safe.
Ask the user for the title of a page they expect in the approved workspace. Use the available Notion search tool to find it without changing anything.
Show the workspace and matching page titles. If the expected page is missing, the workspace is wrong, or the tool call fails, stop and report the exact blocked step. Do not create a page.

About 883 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
