What it does

Scienceworld Recipe Retriever is an agent skill from zjunlp/SkillNet. This skill locates and acquires a recipe or instruction document by using 'pick up' on the recipe object. Use when the task involves following a specific procedure (e.g., crafting, mixing) and the agent needs to obtain the written instructions. The skill assumes the recipe is visible in the current room and moves it to the inventory, allowing the agent to read it later to understand required ingredients and steps.

Its SKILL.md is about 540 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 3 other files, including reference files (for example `references/action_primitives.md` and `references/trajectory_analysis.md`).

The repository describes itself as: Create, Evaluate, and Connect AI Skills. The licence is MIT.

  • Mixing) and the agent needs to obtain the written instructions

Example prompts

  • “pick up”

Workflow steps

3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. The task involves following a specific procedure (e.g., crafting, mixing, building).
  2. You are instructed to find or use a recipe.
  3. You need written instructions to understand required ingredients and steps.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit c527136. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Scienceworld Recipe Retriever loads about 542 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 112 tokens; SKILL.md has 267 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~112
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~542
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~1.2k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Skill: Recipe Retriever

Purpose

Acquire a visible recipe or instruction document from the current environment and store it in your inventory for later reference.

Trigger Conditions

Use this skill when:

  1. The task involves following a specific procedure (e.g., crafting, mixing, building).
  2. You are instructed to find or use a recipe.
  3. You need written instructions to understand required ingredients and steps.

Core Procedure

  1. Locate Recipe: Use look around to survey the current room. Identify any object described as a "recipe," "instructions," "manual," or similar document.
  2. Acquire Recipe: Use pick up <recipe_object> to move the recipe to your inventory.
  3. Verify Acquisition: Confirm the recipe is now in your inventory before proceeding to the next task phase.

Key Notes

  • This skill assumes the recipe is visible and accessible in the current room.
  • The skill ends once the recipe is successfully moved to inventory.
  • Reading the recipe (using read) is a separate action that should be performed after acquisition.
  • If the recipe is not found in the current room, you may need to explore other rooms first.

Error Handling

  • If pick up fails (e.g., "You cannot pick that up"), examine the object first to verify it's a recipe.
  • If no recipe is found after looking around, expand your search to adjacent rooms.

Example

Task: Obtain the recipe for crafting red paint.

  1. look around — observe: "a recipe for red paint on the counter"
  2. pick up recipe for red paint
  3. Expected observation: "You move the recipe for red paint to the inventory."
  4. Later: read recipe for red paint to learn the required ingredients.
