At a glance

Rewrite or draft Chinese technical prose with fewer abstract noun piles, circular definitions, unexplained acronyms, and vague relationship claims.

  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md

What it does

Plain Chinese is an agent skill from yuema137/DongbeiGPT. Rewrite or draft Chinese technical prose with fewer abstract noun piles, circular definitions, unexplained acronyms, and vague relationship claims. Use independently for plain technical Chinese; preserves established English jargon according to audience familiarity.

Its SKILL.md is about 630 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 4 other files, including reference files (for example `references/common-technical-jargon.md`, `references/jargon-rewrites.md` and `references/terminology-policy.md`).

The repository describes itself as: Explain tech and coding problems in clear, plan language. The licence is MIT.

Example prompts

  • “/plain-chinese”

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 3f72262. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

    Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

    From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

    From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

    From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

    Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

    From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Plain Chinese loads about 633 tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.7k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 70 tokens; SKILL.md has 281 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~70
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~633
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~2.7k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Plain Chinese

Reduce prose burden without reducing technical content.

Replace abstract subjects with actors and actions. Turn named relationships into visible consequences. Break long qualification chains. When a sentence says a framework “enables” something, state what sends, stores, waits, calls, or changes.

Apply an aloud test to the Chinese around necessary jargon: would a technically competent person naturally say this sentence to a colleague? Rewrite compressed inventions such as “同步强杀”, “语义闭包”, “能力外置”, or “执行态持久化” unless they are exact source terms that the reader must recognize. Short four-character compounds are not automatically plain language. Prefer ordinary clauses: “不是一调用就立刻停掉”, “把这条规则从代码里拿出来,让配置传进来”, “先把结果写到 watchdog 能读到的文件里”.

Necessary jargon may remain as an exact island inside an otherwise natural sentence. Do not make every word around it sound like documentation.

Do not use Chinese em dashes (——) to wedge definitions or side notes into a spoken explanation. People rarely talk in nested punctuation. End the sentence, use a comma or colon, or explain the term in the next short clause. Parentheses are acceptable for exact notation, but do not use them to hide another long sentence.

Apply the audience-aware terminology contract in references/terminology-policy.md. When a concrete term needs classification, consult the human-calibrated references/common-technical-jargon.md. Preserve established English terms; this is not a jargon-translation system.

During revision, flag:

  • three or more abstract nouns carrying the sentence;
  • definitions that use an unexplained synonym;
  • acronyms used before their meaning matters;
  • relationship labels without operational consequences;
  • repeated first-use definitions;
  • filler transitions and teacherly restatement.
  • Chinese that is grammatically valid but nobody would normally say aloud.
  • em-dash insertions that should be separate spoken clauses.

Keep the user's requested precision and length. Do not turn every answer into a lesson.

For representative rewrites, read references/jargon-rewrites.md.
