At a glance

Sorts what a session has learned into the right place, project memory, notepad or durable docs, and flags duplicate, stale or conflicting entries.

  • Works in 5 steps: Gather the relevant session findings. → Classify each item → Propose the best destination for each… → …
  • Wrapping up a long session and deciding what the team should keep
  • SKILL.md covers Goal, Memory surfaces, Workflow and Rules, plus 1 more section
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md

What it does

At the end of useful work, this skill has the agent promote reusable knowledge out of chat history. It knows four destinations: project memory for durable team knowledge, a priority notepad for short high-signal context, a working notepad for temporary session notes, and docs, AGENTS or CLAUDE files for lasting instructions and conventions.

The agent gathers the session's findings, classifies each as a durable project fact, a temporary note, an operator preference or a duplicate, stale or conflicting item, proposes a destination, and writes only to the appropriate store. It keeps entries concise and actionable, avoids dumping everything in one place, and marks uncertain items as uncertain instead of recording them as fact. The result lists what was stored, where, and any duplicates or conflicts that need cleanup.

When your agent uses it

  • Wrapping up a long session and deciding what the team should keep
  • Cleaning up project memory that has duplicate or outdated notes
  • Choosing between a temporary note and a permanent instruction file

Example prompts

  • “Review what we learned this session and decide what goes into project memory.”
  • “Move the build-script conventions we just worked out into the docs instead of the notepad.”
  • “Check project memory for duplicate or conflicting entries and list them.”

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Gather the relevant session findings.
  2. Classify each item
  3. Propose the best destination for each item.
  4. Write or update only the appropriate memory surface.
  5. Call out duplicates or conflicts that should be cleaned up.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 454bae0. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Project Knowledge Sorter loads about 356 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 28 tokens; SKILL.md has 174 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~28
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~356

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

description
Review reusable project knowledge and decide what belongs in project memory, notepad, or durable docs

Remember

Use this skill when the user wants to preserve or organize useful knowledge discovered during a session.

Goal

Promote durable, reusable knowledge into the right memory surface instead of leaving it buried in chat history.

Memory surfaces

  • Project memory — durable team/project knowledge
  • Notepad priority — short high-signal context for the next turns
  • Notepad working — temporary active-session notes
  • Docs / AGENTS / CLAUDE files — durable instructions and conventions when they truly belong there

Workflow

  1. Gather the relevant session findings.
  2. Classify each item:
    • durable project fact
    • temporary working note
    • operator preference or instruction
    • duplicate / stale / conflicting information
  3. Propose the best destination for each item.
  4. Write or update only the appropriate memory surface.
  5. Call out duplicates or conflicts that should be cleaned up.

Rules

  • Do not dump everything into one store.
  • Prefer project memory for durable team knowledge.
  • Prefer notepad for short-lived working context.
  • Keep entries concise and actionable.
  • If something is uncertain, mark it as uncertain rather than storing it as fact.

Output

  • What was stored
  • Where it was stored
  • Any duplicates/conflicts found
