What it does

Database Development is an agent skill from WrongStack/WrongStack. Implement database access, models and queries with explicit consistency, transactions and bounded results. Use when working with SQL, document databases, Redis or ORM clients; use database-migrations for schema rollout/recovery and verify actual engine/client compatibility.

Its SKILL.md is about 860 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Databases, covering NoSQL databases, ORMs and data access and Database migrations. It works with Redis, SQL and MongoDB. The repository describes itself as: An AI coding agent that reads your code, edits files, runs commands, and reasons through bugs — across a terminal REPL, a full-screen TUI, and a browser UI, while you keep your… The licence is MIT.

Workflow steps

6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Identify engine, topology, schema/model, transaction semantics and actual pool/client lifetime.
  2. Model uniqueness, ownership and valid states at the database boundary where appropriate.
  3. Bound list/query results and inspect access plans/indexes against representative data.
  4. Validate query inputs and public output; parameterization of values does not authorize an object or arbitrary identifier.
  5. Define atomicity and retry semantics across multiple writes/external side effects.
  6. Treat cache/document/relational consistency deliberately; a client library version is not the server version.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit a744bdc. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):

    • postgresql.org
    • mongodb.com
    • redis.io

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Database Development loads about 864 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 74 tokens; SKILL.md has 297 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~74
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~864

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Database Development

Selection card

  • Task: Design database queries, indexes and transactions. / TR: Veritabanı sorgu, indeks ve transaction tasarla.
  • Start: Identify the data owner, query/schema, consistency and recovery contract.
  • Finish: apply the acceptance checks below; report observed results and unresolved constraints.

Overview

Implement database access, models and queries with explicit consistency, transactions and bounded results.

Checked 2026-10-09: PostgreSQL 18.6, MongoDB stable 9.0 series, Redis server 8.10.2; Prisma/client 7.10.0, Drizzle 0.45.4, MongoDB Node driver 7.7.0, Redis Node client 6.3.0. Prisma latest tag currently points at 8.0.0-rc.22: choose the verified stable release unless preview is requested.

Rules

Workflow

  1. Trace callers, read/write contracts and existing persistence conventions.
  2. Verify current stable engine/client/ORM support before upgrade.
  3. Implement the narrow query/model operation with explicit transaction and failure behavior.
  4. Test concurrency, uniqueness, empty/boundary data and rollback/retry cases.
  5. Inspect relevant query performance and run application integration checks.

Before returning

Engine/client identities separated; data/ownership/atomicity contracts tested; queries bounded; schema deployment delegated to its actual migration workflow.

Sources

Versioned facts checked 2026-10-09; refresh authoritative sources before new installs/upgrades. PostgreSQL, MongoDB releases, Redis clients.

Skills in scope

  • database-migrations — design and verify schema migrations, bounded backfills and deployment compatibility for databases.
  • data-governance — data governance contracts and verification.
  • api-design — api design contracts and verification.
  • backup-recovery — design and verify backups and restoration for owned databases, files and application state.

Can I use Database Development in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add WrongStack/WrongStack --skill database-development -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/database-development, .gemini/skills/database-development, .github/skills/database-development and .opencode/skills/database-development in your project.

What does Database Development need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Database Development is instructions for the agent only.

Does Database Development access the network?

SKILL.md names 3 domains. As links in the text: postgresql.org, mongodb.com and redis.io. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Database Development safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
