vc-docs-seekerLooks up library and framework documentation through Context7 first, with bundled Node scripts as a fallback that fetch and analyze llms.txt files.
The default path is the Context7 MCP: resolve the library, then put the exact API, configuration or setup question to it. Only when Context7 coverage is missing or incomplete, or when you specifically want llms.txt or repository-based discovery, does the agent switch to the bundled scripts.
The fallback has three scripts. `detect-topic.js` classifies the query and extracts the library and topic, `fetch-docs.js` builds context7.com URLs and falls back from topic-specific to general to an error message, and `analyze-llms-txt.js` sorts the URLs it finds into critical, important and supplementary and suggests how many agents to use. Workflow files cover library search and repository analysis, and reference files cover URL patterns, error handling and edge cases such as versioning. The scripts run without loading their contents into the model's context.
3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 3bcb2f9. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 8 files in scripts/ (JavaScript, from the files we listed), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
nodeFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
CONTEXT7_API_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Library Documentation Seeker loads about 1k tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 46 tokens; SKILL.md has 292 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
Scripts load `.env`: `process.env` > `.claude/skills/vc-docs-seeker/.env` > `.claude/skills/.env` > `.claude/.env`Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
The full file from withkynam/vibecode-pro-max-kit at commit 3bcb2f9, republished under its MIT licence (© withkynam). 292 words, ~1,017 tokens.
.claude/skills/vc-docs-seeker/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 16 other files; get the full folder from GitHub.Output style: Follow
process/development-protocols/communication-standards.md— answer-first, plain language, no unexplained jargon, TL;DR on long responses.
Use Context7 MCP as the default path for documentation lookup. The local scripts in this skill are fallback helpers for llms.txt-based discovery when Context7 does not cover the target cleanly.
Default workflow: Context7 first
Fallback script workflow:
# 1. DETECT query type (topic-specific vs general)
node scripts/detect-topic.js "<user query>"
# 2. FETCH documentation using script output
node scripts/fetch-docs.js "<user query>"
# 3. ANALYZE results (if multiple URLs returned)
cat llms.txt | node scripts/analyze-llms-txt.js -Scripts handle URL construction, fallback chains, and error handling automatically.
detect-topic.js - Classify query type
{topic, library, isTopicSpecific}fetch-docs.js - Retrieve documentation
analyze-llms-txt.js - Process llms.txt
Topic-Specific Search - Fastest path (10-15s)
General Library Search - Comprehensive coverage (30-60s)
Repository Analysis - Fallback strategy
context7-patterns.md - URL patterns, known repositories
errors.md - Error handling, fallback strategies
advanced.md - Edge cases, versioning, multi-language
Topic query: "How do I use date picker in shadcn?"
node scripts/detect-topic.js "<query>" # → {topic, library, isTopicSpecific}
node scripts/fetch-docs.js "<query>" # → 2-3 URLs
# Use Context7 results first; only use script-discovered URLs when you intentionally fall backGeneral query: "Documentation for Next.js"
node scripts/detect-topic.js "<query>" # → {isTopicSpecific: false}
node scripts/fetch-docs.js "<query>" # → 8+ URLs
cat llms.txt | node scripts/analyze-llms-txt.js - # → {totalUrls, distribution}
# Use Context7 results first; only use script-discovered URLs when fallback discovery is requiredScripts load .env: process.env > .claude/skills/vc-docs-seeker/.env > .claude/skills/.env > .claude/.env
Optional env vars: CONTEXT7_API_KEY (Bearer token for Context7 API), DEBUG=true (verbose logging).

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Library Documentation Seeker needs JavaScript for the scripts in its folder, the command-line tools its instructions call (node) and credentials named CONTEXT7_API_KEY. Our summary lists: The Context7 MCP for the default lookup path; Node.js to run the fallback scripts; Network access to context7.com.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (mentions a .env file), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Library Documentation Seeker is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 1.1k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
