What it does

Integration Astro Static is an agent skill from will-be-done/will-be-done. PostHog integration for static Astro sites using SSG

Its SKILL.md is about 640 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 8 other files, including reference files (for example `references/EXAMPLE.md`, `references/astro.md` and `references/basic-integration-1.0-begin.md`).

It sits in Frontend & Design, covering Static sites and blogs and Task management. It works with Astro, PostHog, TypeScript and SQLite. The repository describes itself as: Local-first task manager with a visual weekly timeline. Works offline, syncs across devices, and self-hosts with one Docker command. Uses SQLite by default, so no external… The licence is AGPL-3.0.

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. basic-integration-1.0-begin.md - PostHog Setup - Begin ← Start here
  2. basic-integration-1.1-edit.md - PostHog Setup - Edit
  3. basic-integration-1.2-revise.md - PostHog Setup - Revise
  4. basic-integration-1.3-conclude.md - PostHog Setup - Conclusion

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit a6060ee. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:

    • PUBLIC_POSTHOG_KEY

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Integration Astro Static loads about 636 tokens when it runs, and up to ~11k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 19 tokens; SKILL.md has 284 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~19
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~636
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~11k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

PostHog integration for Astro (Static)

This skill helps you add PostHog analytics to Astro (Static) applications.

Workflow

Follow these steps in order to complete the integration:

  1. basic-integration-1.0-begin.md - PostHog Setup - Begin ← Start here
  2. basic-integration-1.1-edit.md - PostHog Setup - Edit
  3. basic-integration-1.2-revise.md - PostHog Setup - Revise
  4. basic-integration-1.3-conclude.md - PostHog Setup - Conclusion

Reference files

  • EXAMPLE.md - Astro (Static) example project code
  • astro.md - Astro - docs
  • identify-users.md - Identify users - docs
  • basic-integration-1.0-begin.md - PostHog setup - begin
  • basic-integration-1.1-edit.md - PostHog setup - edit
  • basic-integration-1.2-revise.md - PostHog setup - revise
  • basic-integration-1.3-conclude.md - PostHog setup - conclusion

The example project shows the target implementation pattern. Consult the documentation for API details.

Key principles

  • Environment variables: Always use environment variables for PostHog keys. Never hardcode them.
  • Minimal changes: Add PostHog code alongside existing integrations. Don't replace or restructure existing code.
  • Match the example: Your implementation should follow the example project's patterns as closely as possible.

Framework guidelines

  • Always use the is:inline directive on PostHog script tags to prevent Astro from processing them and causing TypeScript errors
  • Use PUBLIC_ prefix for client-side environment variables in Astro (e.g., PUBLIC_POSTHOG_KEY)
  • Create a posthog.astro component in src/components/ for reusable initialization across pages
  • Import the PostHog component in a Layout and wrap all pages with that layout
  • Remember that source code is available in the node_modules directory
  • Check package.json for type checking or build scripts to validate changes
  • posthog-js is the JavaScript SDK package name

Identifying users

Identify users during login and signup events. Refer to the example code and documentation for the correct identify pattern for this framework. If both frontend and backend code exist, pass the client-side session and distinct ID using X-POSTHOG-DISTINCT-ID and X-POSTHOG-SESSION-ID headers to maintain correlation.

Error tracking

Add PostHog error tracking to relevant files, particularly around critical user flows and API boundaries.
