What it does

The playground is a gitignored file, `packages/vuetify/dev/Playground.vue`, that `pnpm install` creates from a template and `pnpm dev` serves at localhost:8090. It serves two goals in order: a hands-on reproduction for the person writing the change, and a brief, realistic demo to paste into the PR description. The human is treated as a co-author, so the agent never overwrites existing content unless asked and keeps whatever a requested edit does not touch.

Rules for the file's shape: template, script, then style; a dark `v-app` theme with a `v-container`, using `max-width="600"` for small components; stacking with `d-flex flex-column ga-4` rather than `v-row` and `v-col`; short code-formatted labels per case instead of prose; deterministic local data and no fetches. Cases should cover neighboring combinations such as variant, density, disabled or readonly states and RTL, not just the reported one. The dev server is started only when asked or when a visual check is needed, after freeing port 8090, and RTL checks use a fresh Chrome profile with a forced locale such as `ar`, `he` or `fa`.

When your agent uses it

  • Reproducing a Vuetify bug in the dev playground
  • Preparing a demo for a Vuetify pull request description
  • Checking a component in RTL locales such as Arabic or Hebrew

Example prompts

  • “Add a reproduction of the disabled button variant to the playground without touching my existing examples.”
  • “Update the playground to show the select component in every density, then check it in an RTL locale.”
  • “Free up port 8090 and start the dev server for the playground.”

Requirements

  • A checkout of the Vuetify repository
  • pnpm, to install dependencies and run the dev server

Workflow steps

2 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit e23a3c1. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • pnpm

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use pnpm, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Vuetify Playground loads about 730 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 17 tokens; SKILL.md has 263 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~17
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~730

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 263 words (~730 tokens).

“packages/vuetify/dev/Playground.vue (gitignored). pnpm install creates it from Playground.template.vue when missing; pnpm dev from the repo root serves it at localhost:8090.”
