At a glance

Answer questions about history, habits and past decisions by reasoning over Hindsight memory.

  • Works in 3 steps: Call reflect with the user's question on… → If the answer depends on more than one… → Give the answer directly. If memory is…
  • Asked what was decided about something
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md
  • How something is usually done

What it does

Memory Reflect is an agent skill from vectorize-io/hindsight. Answer questions about history, habits and past decisions by reasoning over Hindsight memory. Use when asked what was decided about something, how something is usually done, what changed over time, or what is known about a topic.

Its SKILL.md is about 230 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Agent Workflows. The repository describes itself as: Hindsight: Agent Memory That Learns. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • Asked what was decided about something
  • How something is usually done
  • What changed over time
  • What is known about a topic

Example prompts

  • “/memory-reflect”

Workflow steps

3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Call reflect with the user's question on the bank most likely to hold the answer: grok-bot::shared for things about the user or the team…
  2. If the answer depends on more than one bank, reflect on each and combine the answers, saying which part came from where.
  3. Give the answer directly. If memory is thin or contradictory, say so rather than filling the gap.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 9269b88. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Memory Reflect loads about 233 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 61 tokens; SKILL.md has 113 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~61
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~233

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Reason over memory

recall returns individual memories. reflect reads across them and answers the question, which is better for anything that needs a judgement over history.

Steps

  1. Call reflect with the user's question on the bank most likely to hold the answer: grok-bot::shared for things about the user or the team, this Bot's bank for its own work, or one of the user's other banks for their work in other tools.
  2. If the answer depends on more than one bank, reflect on each and combine the answers, saying which part came from where.
  3. Give the answer directly. If memory is thin or contradictory, say so rather than filling the gap.
