  • SKILL.md covers Basic Configuration, Build Extensions, Custom Build Extensions and Advanced Configuration, plus 2 more sections
  • Needs SECRET_KEY and SENTRY_AUTH_TOKEN

What it does

Trigger Config is an agent skill from trycompai/comp. Configure your Trigger.dev project with a trigger.config.ts file

Its SKILL.md is about 2k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Databases, covering ORMs and data access. The repository describes itself as: AI Native platform to get companies compliant - Vanta & Drata Alternative. The licence is AGPL-3.0.

When your agent uses it

  • Tasks that involve ORMs and data access

Example prompts

  • “/trigger-config”

Requirements

  • Python 3
  • A credential in SECRET_KEY
  • A credential in SENTRY_AUTH_TOKEN

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 1bf4d52. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

    Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

    From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are typescript).

    From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

    From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

    Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:

    • SECRET_KEY
    • SENTRY_AUTH_TOKEN

    From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Trigger Config loads about 2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 20 tokens; SKILL.md has 160 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~20
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~2k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

      maxTimeoutInMs: 10000,
      factor: 2,
      randomize: true,
    },
  },

  // Build configuration
  build: {

  additionalFiles({ files: ["./public/**", "./assets/**"] }),
  syncEnvVars(async (ctx) => [...envVars]),
];

ts
extensions: [
  pythonExtension({
    scripts: ["./ai/**/*.py"],
    requirementsFile: "./requirements.txt",
  }),
  ffmpeg({ version: "7" }),
  additionalPackages({ packages: ["wrangler"] }),
];
Web Scraping
ts
extensions: [
  playwright({ browsers: ["chromium"] }),
  puppeteer(),
  additionalFiles({ files: ["./selectors.json", "./proxies.txt"] }),
];

Best Practices

  • Use specific versions: Pin extension versions for reproducible builds
  • External packages: Add modules with native addons to the build.external array
  • Environment sync: Use syncEnvVars for dynamic secrets
  • File paths: Use glob patterns for flexible file inclusion
  • Debug builds: Use --log-level debug --dry-run for troubleshooting

Extensions only affect deployment, not local development. Use external array for packages that shouldn't be bundled.
