At a glance

A skill your agent uses when reviewing templates, rendered HTML, or shared components related to Ensure all IDs are unique.

  • Reviewing templates
  • SKILL.md covers Quick Reference, Check, Fix and Explain, plus 1 more section
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md
  • Shared components related to Ensure all IDs are unique

What it does

Unique Id is an agent skill from thedaviddias/Front-End-Checklist. Use when reviewing templates, rendered HTML, or shared components related to Ensure all IDs are unique. Validate the final browser-facing markup, not just the source framework abstraction.

Its SKILL.md is about 420 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including reference files (for example `references/rule.md`).

It sits in Frontend & Design. It works with JavaScript. The repository describes itself as: 🗂 The essential checklist for modern web development, for humans and AI agents. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • Reviewing templates
  • Shared components related to Ensure all IDs are unique

Example prompts

  • “/unique-id”

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit e8d14d0. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):

    • frontendchecklist.io

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Unique Id loads about 423 tokens when it runs, and up to ~3.9k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 50 tokens; SKILL.md has 169 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~50
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~423
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~3.9k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Ensure all IDs are unique

Duplicate IDs break form accessibility (labels don't connect), ARIA relationships fail, and JavaScript getElementById returns wrong elements—causing silent bugs.

Quick Reference

  • Each ID must appear only once per HTML document
  • Use classes for styling, IDs for unique anchors/references
  • Check for duplicates introduced by component libraries
  • Duplicate IDs break form labels, ARIA, and getElementById

Check

Scan this HTML document to ensure all ID attributes are unique across the entire page and properly reference related elements.

Fix

Remove duplicate ID values, ensure each ID is used only once per page, and update any references like labels, ARIA attributes, or JavaScript selectors.

Explain

Explain why unique IDs are essential for HTML validity, accessibility (form labels, ARIA), JavaScript functionality, and CSS styling.

Code Review

Review templates, server-rendered HTML, and shared components that output markup related to Ensure all IDs are unique. Flag exact elements, attributes, and routes where the rendered HTML violates the rule.

For full implementation details, code examples, and framework-specific guidance, see references/rule.md.
