What it does

Qv Dev Diary is an agent skill from tetherto/qvac. Read, inspect, and add local dev diary entries after diary setup. Use when the user asks to view today's diary, edit diary notes, add work to the diary, or check what has been logged.

Its SKILL.md is about 350 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files (for example `agents/openai.yaml`).

It sits in Knowledge Management, covering Journaling and reflection. The repository describes itself as: Open-source local AI SDK - run AI on-device with no cloud, no API keys. Supports GGUF, RAG, image, music, and video generation, speech-to-text, P2P inference, and more… The licence is Apache-2.0.

When your agent uses it

  • The user asks to view todays diary
  • Edit diary notes
  • Add work to the diary
  • Check what has been logged

Example prompts

  • “/qv-dev-diary”

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Get the path with --path.
  2. Read the file with ReadFile.
  3. Edit only the requested entry.
  4. Preserve the existing markdown structure.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit d92f697. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • node

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Qv Dev Diary loads about 348 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 49 tokens; SKILL.md has 88 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~49
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~348

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
