At a glance

Generates one finished retro CRT computer-interface illustration from a portrait, photo, creature, object or theme, as an exaggerated 1980s bitmap caricature.

  • Works in 4 steps: Abstraction Blueprint → Attention and Interface Geometry → Color and Pixel Construction → …
  • Turning a portrait or group photo into a retro CRT-style illustration
  • SKILL.md covers Mode Policy, Execution Profile Gate, Two-Stage Intake Gate and Optional Style Preset Router, plus 8 more sections
  • Runs Python scripts from its folder

What it does

An image-generation skill, written for Codex, that redraws uploaded or described subjects as a circa-1980s bitmap editorial caricature set beneath early Macintosh or Minitel-style windows, with barrel-curved CRT edges and a fixed title-bar signature. Before generating, it runs a strict two-stage intake to settle a palette, either named or taken from your image, and an aspect ratio, unless you supply them.

The agent picks an execution profile from the capabilities it can see. With Codex tooling and local scripts it runs scripts/finalize_crt.py on the generated image. Otherwise it compiles those requirements into a single prompt and returns the generated image directly, and with no image generation available it stops with an unsupported-environment message. It generates once, inspects once and returns one image. Optional Chinese presets 街头怪诞, 巨像符号 and 冷面几何 are supported, and the agent does not ask you to choose a preset.

When your agent uses it

  • Turning a portrait or group photo into a retro CRT-style illustration
  • Making a 1980s-style interface caricature of an object or a described theme
  • Producing one stylized image with a chosen palette and aspect ratio

Example prompts

  • “Turn this team photo into a retro CRT interface illustration in a green and amber palette.”
  • “Make a 1980s Macintosh-style caricature of a pet cat, in a 4:5 ratio.”
  • “Create a CRT illustration of a lighthouse using the 街头怪诞 preset.”

Requirements

  • An image-generation capability in the agent
  • Python with Pillow, for the finalize step in the full Codex profile

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Abstraction Blueprint
  2. Attention and Interface Geometry
  3. Color and Pixel Construction
  4. CRT Signal Surface

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 6bd76c9. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships 1 file in scripts/ (Python, from the files we listed), which the agent can run.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

CRT Interface Illustration loads about 9.4k tokens when it runs, and up to ~14k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 241 tokens; SKILL.md has 4,893 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~241
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~9.4k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~14k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 4,893 words (~9,432 tokens).

“Use one shared content pipeline with two capability-gated execution profiles. Resolve the profile once, parse any optional named style preset, resolve palette, resolve ratio, inspect once, anchor the subject roster, build one abstraction blueprint, apply the matching preset recipe or…”
