e2e-session-testA skill your agent uses when smoke-testing cctop end to end — verifying a real coding-agent session is tracked and shows in the panel.
E2E Session Test is an agent skill from st0012/cctop. Use when smoke-testing cctop end to end — verifying a real coding-agent session is tracked and shows in the panel. Trigger on "smoke test sessions", "verify session tracking", "test the hook pipeline", "check cctop picks up a claude/codex/opencode/pi session", or "run the e2e test", even without the word "skill". Creates a real CLI agent session in a terminal, confirms cctop tracks it, opens the panel programmatically, and captures screenshot proof.
Its SKILL.md is about 730 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 5 other files, including scripts and reference files (for example `references/troubleshooting.md`, `scripts/cctop-sessions.sh` and `scripts/launch-cli-session.sh`).
It sits in Testing & QA, covering End-to-end testing and QA and bug reports. It works with macOS. The repository describes itself as: A keyboard-first menubar app to monitor and jump between AI coding sessions — minimum setup required. The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 4ee2258. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 2 files in scripts/ (Shell), which the agent can run.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
E2E Session Test loads about 727 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.6k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 118 tokens; SKILL.md has 273 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
The full file from st0012/cctop at commit 4ee2258, republished under its MIT licence (© st0012). 273 words, ~727 tokens.

agent in a terminal → cctop hooks → ~/.cctop/sessions/<pid>.json → panel cardA good smoke test after touching hooks, the session schema, or the panel.
Harness-agnostic — it needs three generic capabilities. Use your environment's equivalent; don't assume a specific tool:
screencapture CLI)Drive a CLI agent (claude / codex / opencode / pi) in a terminal window —
it's a real session and one shell command starts it. Don't try to puppet a
desktop agent's GUI: if it's the app hosting you, screen capture hides its window
and you can't confirm input landed (see references/troubleshooting.md). Requires a
cctop build with the cctop:// URL scheme (ships with this skill).
# 1. Baseline — note the PIDs
.claude/skills/e2e-session-test/scripts/cctop-sessions.sh
# 2. Create a session — opens a terminal running the agent, waits for it to register
.claude/skills/e2e-session-test/scripts/launch-cli-session.sh claude ~/projects/cctop
# 3. Verify — a new PID entry with the right source (cc/codex/opencode/pi) appears
.claude/skills/e2e-session-test/scripts/cctop-sessions.sh
# 4. Summon the panel
open cctop://toggleThen capture a screenshot and confirm the new session's card is in the panel
(right status, source, project). Run open cctop://toggle again to close it — a
clean closed/open pair if you want before/after proof. For a shareable record,
write a small HTML log embedding the screenshots.
Two details the launcher handles, because they otherwise make this fail silently: a
login shell (so the agent's PATH, e.g. ~/.local/bin, resolves) and a
trusted directory (so the agent doesn't stall at a folder-trust prompt).
open cctop://toggle is used instead of a menu-bar click or hotkey because those
need extra OS permissions under automation.
source.open cctop://toggle opens and closes the panel. On failure, grab the relevant ~/.cctop/logs/<session>.log entry and see
references/troubleshooting.md.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, E2E Session Test needs a shell for the scripts in its folder. Our summary lists: A Bash shell.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
E2E Session Test is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 727 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 864 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
