git-commitSets habits for staging deliberately, writing Conventional Commit messages, keeping one change per commit and opening pull requests with the gh CLI.
Before anything is committed, this skill has the agent look at git status and the staged diff, stage only the files that belong to the change instead of adding everything, split unrelated edits into separate commits, and make sure secrets, large binaries and generated artifacts are kept out via .gitignore.
Messages follow Conventional Commits: a type such as feat, fix, docs, refactor, test, chore, perf, build or ci, an optional scope, and a short imperative summary of at most 72 characters with no trailing period. The body should record why the change was made, not repeat the diff. For pull requests the agent pushes the branch and runs gh pr create, writes a description covering what changed, why and how it was verified, and confirms the base branch first. If recent history in git log uses another format, the repository's convention wins.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 4c2a18f. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
gitghFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use git and gh, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Git Commits and Pull Requests loads about 390 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 52 tokens; SKILL.md has 177 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Git Commits and Pull Requests fits situations like: committing a set of changes that should be split into logical commits; writing a commit message in Conventional Commits format; opening a pull request with a clear description of what changed and how it was tested.
Run `npx skills add spinabot/brigade --skill git-commit -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/git-commit in spinabot/brigade) into .claude/skills/git-commit in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add spinabot/brigade --skill git-commit -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/git-commit in spinabot/brigade) into .agents/skills/git-commit in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add spinabot/brigade --skill git-commit -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/git-commit, .gemini/skills/git-commit, .github/skills/git-commit and .opencode/skills/git-commit in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Git Commits and Pull Requests needs the command-line tools its instructions call (git and gh). Our summary lists: Git; The GitHub CLI (gh) for opening pull requests.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use git and gh, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Git Commits and Pull Requests is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 390 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 1.6k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
