terminal-emulatorTests interactive CLI and TUI programs with Microsoft's tui-test, driving prompts, arrow keys and screen output in a real pseudo-terminal.
This skill points the agent to @microsoft/tui-test, a Playwright-like library for terminals that gives each test a real PTY. It is meant for CLI tools with interactive prompts, TUI rendering, arrow-key navigation or any command that needs a TTY. Tests are written in TypeScript, using test.use to name the program and its arguments, and a terminal object lets them write keystrokes such as the arrow-up and arrow-down escape sequences.
Tests run with npx tui-test, with options to update snapshots or run a single file. The library waits for terminal renders on its own, has built-in snapshot testing and works on macOS, Linux and Windows. The package is added as a dev dependency with yarn, and the skill's allowed tools are limited to npx tui-test and node commands.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit fba320e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
Bash(npx tui-test:*)Bash(node:*)From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
npxyarnFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Interactive CLI Testing With tui-test loads about 603 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 85 tokens; SKILL.md has 50 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from slopus/happy at commit fba320e, republished under its MIT licence (© slopus). 50 words, ~603 tokens.

Run `npx skills add slopus/happy --skill terminal-emulator -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/terminal-emulator in slopus/happy) into .claude/skills/terminal-emulator in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add slopus/happy --skill terminal-emulator -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/terminal-emulator in slopus/happy) into .agents/skills/terminal-emulator in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add slopus/happy --skill terminal-emulator -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/terminal-emulator, .gemini/skills/terminal-emulator, .github/skills/terminal-emulator and .opencode/skills/terminal-emulator in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Interactive CLI Testing With tui-test needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npx and yarn). Our summary lists: Node.js; @microsoft/tui-test installed as a dev dependency. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Bash(npx tui-test:*), Bash(node:*).
SKILL.md names 1 domain. As links in the text: github.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Interactive CLI Testing With tui-test is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 603 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
