weatherLooks up current weather and forecasts with curl and verified location matching, using wttr.in for city names and Open-Meteo for structured data.
This skill tells the agent to get the most reliable location match before reporting any weather. For direct city-name queries, especially Chinese or other non-Latin names, it uses wttr.in with the original text, which resolves native names itself. For structured current conditions and forecasts it uses Open-Meteo, but only after the exact city has been confirmed. Neither service needs an API key.
Accuracy rules govern the answer: always restate the matched place, region or country, and observation time; check the country, admin areas and population of the first geocoding hit instead of trusting it; avoid sending Chinese characters straight to Open-Meteo geocoding unless the top result is clearly right; ask a follow-up or state the assumption when several matches remain; and set the timezone to auto so times fit the location. Tips cover URL-encoding, metric or US units and the JSON output format.

Weather Lookup loads about 657 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 24 tokens; SKILL.md has 244 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Weather Lookup fits situations like: getting current conditions for a named city; pulling a short forecast for a confirmed location; looking up weather for a city given in Chinese or another non-Latin script.
Run `npx skills add sipeed/picoclaw --skill weather -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (workspace/skills/weather in sipeed/picoclaw) into .claude/skills/weather in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add sipeed/picoclaw --skill weather -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (workspace/skills/weather in sipeed/picoclaw) into .agents/skills/weather in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add sipeed/picoclaw --skill weather -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/weather, .gemini/skills/weather, .github/skills/weather and .opencode/skills/weather in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Weather Lookup needs the command-line tools its instructions call (curl). Our summary lists: curl and network access; no API key needed.
SKILL.md names 4 domains. In commands or code: wttr.in, geocoding-api.open-meteo.com and api.open-meteo.com; the agent is likely to contact these when it follows the instructions. As links in the text: open-meteo.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Weather Lookup is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 657 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.6k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
