edit-pdfEdit and fill PDF documents. An agent skill from SimplePDF/simplepdf-embed.
Edit PDF is an agent skill from SimplePDF/simplepdf-embed. Edit and fill PDF documents. Use when the user wants to fill a PDF form, add text/signatures/checkboxes/images to a PDF, or annotate a PDF. Accepts a PDF URL or file upload and returns a ready-to-use editor link. URL inputs are passed through directly. File uploads are stored temporarily (24 hours) then deleted.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.5k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 14 other files (for example `.do/app.yaml` and `README.md`).
It sits in Documents & Office, covering PDF and File uploads and storage. It works with React, TypeScript and JavaScript. The repository describes itself as: PDF editor in the browser – add text, checkboxes, pictures, signatures to PDF files. Merge, rotate PDF pages – iframe, script and React component. The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 51f5427. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships script files (Rust), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
curlnpmFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
agents.simplepdf.coms3.amazonaws.comAlso links to:
simplepdf.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Edit PDF loads about 1.5k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 81 tokens; SKILL.md has 546 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from SimplePDF/simplepdf-embed at commit 51f5427, republished under its MIT licence (© SimplePDF). 546 words, ~1,453 tokens.
.claude/skills/edit-pdf/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 12 other files; get the full folder from GitHub.Edit and fill PDF documents directly in the browser. Add text, signatures, checkboxes, images, and more.
For public PDF URLs, use GET with the URL as a query parameter:
GET https://agents.simplepdf.com?url=https://example.com/form.pdfFor signed or sensitive URLs (e.g. presigned S3 links), use POST with a JSON body to keep the URL out of logs and browser history:
curl -X POST https://agents.simplepdf.com \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url": "https://s3.amazonaws.com/bucket/doc.pdf?X-Amz-Signature=..."}'Both return JSON with the editor URL and embed snippets.
Upload a PDF file to the API. For security and privacy, the file is stored temporarily (24 hours) then automatically deleted. The user has 24 hours to open the link. Once opened, the PDF is loaded into the browser and processed entirely client-side, so the tab can stay open indefinitely.
curl -X POST https://agents.simplepdf.com -F file=@document.pdfconst form = new FormData();
form.append("file", new Blob([pdfBytes], { type: "application/pdf" }), "document.pdf");
const response = await fetch("https://agents.simplepdf.com", { method: "POST", body: form });
const { url } = await response.json();import requests
with open("document.pdf", "rb") as f:
response = requests.post("https://agents.simplepdf.com", files={"file": f})
url = response.json()["url"]Always present the url field as a clickable link. This is the primary way users will open the editor.
If you have access to a browser automation tool (e.g. agent-browser, Playwright, chrome-devtools MCP server), offer to open the url directly so the user can edit the PDF without leaving the conversation.
The iframe and react fields are for developers embedding the editor in a web application. Only present these when the user is building a web app.
Add companyIdentifier to route to a custom SimplePDF portal:
GET https://agents.simplepdf.com?url=https://example.com/form.pdf&companyIdentifier=acmeOr in a POST JSON body:
{"url": "https://example.com/form.pdf", "companyIdentifier": "acme"}When using a companyIdentifier, the account owner has access to:
These features are configured in the SimplePDF admin console. No additional API parameters are needed - they apply automatically when the companyIdentifier is set.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add SimplePDF/simplepdf-embed --skill edit-pdf -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Edit PDF needs Rust for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (curl and npm). Our summary lists: Python 3; Node.js.
SKILL.md names 3 domains. In commands or code: agents.simplepdf.com and s3.amazonaws.com; the agent is likely to contact these when it follows the instructions. As links in the text: simplepdf.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Edit PDF is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.5k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 5.8k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
