What it does

Task Execution is an agent skill from simple-agent-lab/RSIHub. Solve repository tasks by inspecting first, making focused edits, and verifying the result.

Its SKILL.md is about 210 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It works with Python. The repository describes itself as: A research framework for principled agent self-improvement under frozen evaluators and declared mutation boundaries, recording verifiable lineage to make it reproducible and… The licence is Apache-2.0.

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Read the task instruction and inspect the relevant repository files.
  2. Form a concrete hypothesis before editing.
  3. Make the smallest coherent change that solves the task.
  4. Run focused checks, then broaden verification when the change has shared impact.
  5. Leave generated artifacts and unrelated files untouched.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 64491da. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Task Execution loads about 212 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 27 tokens; SKILL.md has 111 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~27
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~212

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Task Execution

  1. Read the task instruction and inspect the relevant repository files.
  2. Form a concrete hypothesis before editing. If an execution deadline is supplied, check remaining time before a long operation and when changing approach. Reserve time for a usable result and its final verification; choose probes and tool waits that fit what remains. A shorter run is not success if required work is missing. Do not invent a deadline when the runtime reports that it is unavailable.
  3. Make the smallest coherent change that solves the task.
  4. Run focused checks, then broaden verification when the change has shared impact.
  5. Leave generated artifacts and unrelated files untouched.
