worktreeIsolate parallel work in a git worktree of the current repository (worktree tool: status / new / merge / remove).
Worktree is an agent skill from shibing624/agentica. Isolate parallel work in a git worktree of the current repository (worktree tool: status / new / merge / remove). Use when another live session is dirty in the same directory (listagents), when two agents would fight over index.lock, or when starting a parallel task checkout.
Its SKILL.md is about 610 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Development, covering Git worktrees. It works with Git. The repository describes itself as: One person, a team of agents. Multi-session CLI that collaborates across terminals; /goal keeps long tasks running; WeChat/WeCom/Feishu gateway lets you call them back when you… The licence is Apache-2.0.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit e84fc48. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
gitFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Worktree loads about 614 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 72 tokens; SKILL.md has 314 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from shibing624/agentica at commit e84fc48, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© shibing624). 314 words, ~614 tokens.
.claude/skills/worktree/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Several sessions in one checkout overwrite each other and contend for git's index. A worktree is one directory + one branch per task, sharing the repository.
This session does not move. worktree(action="new") returns a path.
Pass that path as work_dir on read_file / write_file / apply_patch /
execute. On glob / grep, pass it as path. Omit those arguments and
the call stays in this session's directory.
Do not cd and expect later calls to follow — each call is independent.
Do not execute git worktree add: that only makes a directory, and later
calls still use this session unless you pass work_dir / path. Use
worktree(action="new").
list_agents shows another session in this directory (dirty files, same
branch) and you are about to edit. Not this: a read-only task subagent (it does not write). A second CLI
that should start already inside a tree is agentica --worktree <task>.
Name the task, not yourself. Reused while the checkout is healthy; gone after merge. A registration that is no longer a checkout is refused — remove it first, or pick another name. The tool does not delete leftover files to make room.
worktree(action="new", name="<task>") — create or reuse; returns the pathworktree(action="status") — every worktree of this repoworktree(action="merge", name="<task>") — land on local main (conflicts
stay in that worktree, then fast-forward on main), delete the checkoutworktree(action="remove", name="<task>") — drop a wt/* checkout git
will allow (dirty is refused; an unmerged branch is left in place)new(name="main") is refused: main is the repository root, not a task.
For a chunk of work big enough for its own process, delegate(task=..., work_dir=<path>) already takes the same path.
If a directory goes missing, status labels it (directory gone) or
(not a checkout). Say so; do not rebuild it by destroying what sits there.
remove the name, then new if you still want it.

PX4/PX4-Autopilot
Build PX4 board firmware on macOS in the px4-dev Docker container, including git worktrees, and stage commit-labeled artifacts without flashing hardware.
AgentsMesh/AgentsMesh
Creates or reuses an isolated AgentsMesh Git worktree from a verified base branch, preserves existing changes, and optionally starts the worktree-scoped development environment.
jnMetaCode/superpowers-zh
Sets up an isolated workspace before feature work or plan execution, preferring native worktree tools and falling back to git worktree, with instructions in Chinese.
Chachamaru127/claude-code-harness
Hands one implementation task to Cursor Composer in an isolated git worktree, then reviews its diff and cherry-picks the result into the main branch.
k8zdev/k8z
Automate git worktree creation and copy private files (not tracked in git) to new workdirs.
michaelshimeles/skills
Start a new task in an isolated Git worktree branched from origin/main so multiple agents can work on the same repo in parallel without conflicts.
shibing624/agentica
Run work across more than one agent — choose between the task subagent, the delegate tool, and a second agentica CLI in tmux driven by peer messages (listagents / sendmessage).
shibing624/agentica
How to answer questions about the agentica product you are running inside — CLI flags, config.yaml profiles, API keys, models, sessions, resume, workspace, AGENTS.md standing rules, skills, logs…
shibing624/agentica
Schedule, list, pause, resume, edit, or run the user's agentica cron jobs with the cronjob tool.

Worktree fits situations like: another live session is dirty in the same directory (listagents); two agents would fight over index.lock; starting a parallel task checkout.
Run `npx skills add shibing624/agentica --skill worktree -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (agentica/skills/bundled/worktree in shibing624/agentica) into .claude/skills/worktree in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add shibing624/agentica --skill worktree -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/worktree, .gemini/skills/worktree, .github/skills/worktree and .opencode/skills/worktree in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Worktree needs the command-line tools its instructions call (git).
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Worktree is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 614 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Worktree: Build Px4 macOS (PX4/PX4-Autopilot, 13k stars), Worktree (AgentsMesh/AgentsMesh, 2.4k stars), Git Worktree Isolation (jnMetaCode/superpowers-zh, 8.3k stars) and Cursor Composer Task Delegate (Chachamaru127/claude-code-harness, 3.2k stars).
