What it does

Posthog Operations is an agent skill from shepherdjerred/monorepo. Query or manage this repository's PostHog analytics, schema, dashboards, insights, feature flags, experiments, replay, and observability through toolkit posthog. Use for analytics investigations or governed PostHog changes.

Its SKILL.md is about 320 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in DevOps & Cloud, covering Observability. It works with PostHog. The repository describes itself as: Monorepo for all of my projects. The licence is GPL-3.0.

When your agent uses it

  • Analytics investigations
  • Governed PostHog changes

Example prompts

  • “/posthog-operations”

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. identify the repository/OpenTofu owner and avoid dashboard drift;
  2. inspect the exact API tool and every hinted schema field;
  3. perform a dry run when supported;
  4. require confirmation only for the user-authorized target;
  5. read the object back and exercise the query where practical.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit da14ae9. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

    Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

    From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are bash).

    From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

    From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

    Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

    From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Posthog Operations loads about 321 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 61 tokens; SKILL.md has 123 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~61
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~321

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

PostHog operations

Use the agent-first API surface and ambient credential:

bash
toolkit posthog --version
toolkit posthog api search read-data-schema
toolkit posthog api info read-data-schema
toolkit posthog api call read-data-schema '{"query":{"kind":"events"}}'

Before querying, discover the live event and property schema. Do not guess event names or property types from source alone. Scope time range, environment, identity, and grouping explicitly.

Before a mutation:

  1. identify the repository/OpenTofu owner and avoid dashboard drift;
  2. inspect the exact API tool and every hinted schema field;
  3. perform a dry run when supported;
  4. require confirmation only for the user-authorized target;
  5. read the object back and exercise the query where practical.

Source instrumentation, an accepted capture request, stored events, and a working insight are separate acceptance claims. Use live events or the API to prove storage. Never print, persist, or pass the PostHog token in command text.
