What it does

Seek Verdict is an agent skill from sd0xdev/sd0x-harness. Independent second-opinion verification for any finding. Use when: Claude or user wants independent Codex verification of a review finding — dismiss (false positive check), confirm (does this issue exist?), or clarify (what's the impact?). Triggers: dismiss verification, seek verdict, verify dismiss, false positive check, second opinion, confirm finding, clarify impact. Not for: general code review (use codex-code-review), architecture debates (use codex-brainstorm). Output: [DISMISSVERDICT] or [SEEKVERDICT]…

Its SKILL.md is about 1.5k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 3 other files, including reference files (for example `references/policy-mapping.md` and `references/verdict-prompt.md`).

It sits in Development, covering Code review and Brainstorming. The repository describes itself as: The harness layer for Claude Code — a reference implementation of harness engineering with hook-enforced dual review, state-machine gates that survive context compaction, and… The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • User wants independent Codex verification of a review finding — dismiss (false positive check)
  • Confirm (does this issue exist?)
  • Clarify (whats the impact?)

Example prompts

  • “/seek-verdict”

Requirements

  • Pre-approved tools (allowed-tools): Bash(node:*), Bash(git:*), Read, Grep, Glob, Write

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit a4d4bc1. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

    • Bash(node:*)
    • Bash(git:*)
    • Read
    • Grep
    • Glob
    • Write

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • git

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Seek Verdict loads about 1.5k tokens when it runs, and up to ~4.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 146 tokens; SKILL.md has 399 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~146
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.5k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~4.2k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

The full file from sd0xdev/sd0x-harness at commit a4d4bc1, republished under its MIT licence (© sd0xdev). 399 words, ~1,516 tokens.

Download SKILL.mdSave it as .claude/skills/seek-verdict/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 2 other files; get the full folder from GitHub.

Critical: Record Claude's hypothesis locally. Never send it to Codex.

Phase B: Blind Independent Verdict

Use the prompt template in Verdict Prompt.

RequirementDetail
ThreadFresh — dispatch per @skills/codex-code-review/references/codex-transport.md § Start (never reuse a review thread)
Anti-anchoringNo Claude conclusions in prompt
Phase C: Policy Mapping

Apply thresholds from Policy Mapping.

Dismiss intent: graduated thresholds by severity (P0: 0.95/4, P1: 0.90/3, P2: 0.80/2, Nit: 0.70/1).

Confirm intent: ACTIONABLE->CONFIRMED, NON_ACTIONABLE->DISPUTED, low confidence->UNCERTAIN.

Clarify intent: HIGH_IMPACT / LOW_IMPACT / UNCERTAIN.

Output audit trail per Policy Mapping.

Show full SKILL.md (171 more words)Show less

Rebuttal

When Phase C maps the verdict to FIX_REQUIRED (raw ACTIONABLE at or above the confidence floor — FIX_REQUIRED is the mapping's word, never Codex's) and Claude has objective counter-evidence:

  • 1 round max via § Resume (same verdict thread)
  • Only objective artifacts (tests, specs, language semantics)
  • The rebuttal names Codex's own verdict, ACTIONABLE, not the mapped result
  • After rebuttal: map the new answer again — still FIX_REQUIRED -> fix; ambiguous -> NEED_HUMAN

Anti-Abuse Guard

See Policy Mapping for full rules.

  • Dismiss: 3 consecutive DISMISS_VERIFIED -> [DISMISS_PATTERN_WARN] + heightened thresholds
  • Confirm/Clarify: per-finding cap (1 confirm + 1 clarify per finding per commit)
  • Session end or branch switch resets all counters

Output

Dismiss intent:

[DISMISS_VERDICT] key=<file|canonical_issue> | severity=<P0-Nit> | verdict=<DISMISS_VERIFIED|DISMISS_CANDIDATE|FIX_REQUIRED|NEED_HUMAN> | confidence=<0..1> | codex_thread=<id> | evidence=<brief> | timestamp=<ISO8601> | intent=dismiss | authorization=<automated|human-required|human-confirmed>

Confirm/Clarify intent:

[SEEK_VERDICT] key=<file|canonical_issue> | severity=<P0-Nit> | intent=<confirm|clarify> | verdict=<CONFIRMED|DISPUTED|HIGH_IMPACT|LOW_IMPACT|UNCERTAIN> | confidence=<0..1> | codex_thread=<id> | evidence=<brief> | timestamp=<ISO8601>

Verification

  • Intent is valid (dismiss / confirm / clarify)
  • Codex prompt contains no Claude conclusions (anti-anchoring)
  • Fresh Codex thread used (not review session thread)
  • Correct audit trail token output ([DISMISS_VERDICT] or [SEEK_VERDICT])
  • P0/P1 dismiss produces DISMISS_CANDIDATE + human gate (never auto-dismiss)
  • Anti-abuse streak tracked (dismiss) / per-finding cap enforced (confirm/clarify)
